Does anyone know anything about a Lexus IS 250 F sport (2011)?

I dont know anyone who has owned a Lexus but reviews online dont read well. I'd prefer hearing from someone who has owned a similar Lexus and what its like with reliability, performance and so on.

The Lexus costs £8.495 and has full service history but i'll be trading in my current car for it. It looks like a really nice car but i'd just like to know more about them.

Can't honestly remember a negative report in relation to reliability of a Petrol Lexus.

I had one but a IS220d diesel - managed to keep it 3 months before I got rid. Some of it was to do with the diesel engine/gearbox but also the complexity of the ICE. Mine had the Mark Levinson system (which was great) and navigation (which was acceptable but far from intuitive) but one of the killers was the Bluetooth integration which wouldn't allow address book to be downloaded from phone meaning each individual number had to be keyed in manually (this was from an iPhone - can't speak for other systems).

In all it was competent and comfortable but lacked that 'something'

Thanks for the info. I'm going to give it a test drive at the weekend and then i'll probably ask a few questions on that lexus owners forum before i make any decisions on whether to swap my current car for it or not :money:

My advice (which I don't normally take myself) is to make sure the test is as close to normal conditions as possible - I did mine in a strange place and whilst the car did everything a car should I know I overlooked some specifics that I would have picked up on if I was on home soil.

    Other than that enjoy it

There are two types of test drive IMO. One to tell if the car is the right make/model/spec for you. The other is to check that the car works and is as described (only applicable to used cars).

If you haven't driven the make/model of Lexus before, you'd be best off going to see two or three of them to understand what they should be like. This will make it easier to understand whether there are any issues with the one you have seen.

If everyone owned a lexus, garages other than kwik fit would be out of business. Wouldn't worry about mileage, even petrol models are good for 250k+.
Without seeing the IS, £8500 sounds a good price if its in good condition with all the required stamps and receipts.

Don't think the interiors look quite as modern as a jag but at least you know every button will still be working in 10 years time.
  • I have a 2007 IS250 SE Multimedia, its a great car.

I love the Mark Levinson / Nav system. I don't like the look of the more modern Lexus ones where they have got rid of the touchscreen.

My only criticism is that there isn't that much legroom in the back.
