I have to been selected for a final interview with British Gas. As part of this I have to give consent to an experian credit, employment history and criminal background checks.

On the form it ask if I have ever received ccjs, Iva's or trust deeds.

Will experian give them details of an old trust deed and ccj which are no longer on my file?

  • If it's not on your file they won't tell them - they won't even hold the data anymore.

If they both no longer show on your credit file, in theory you should be ok.

However, was the question worded as 'Have you ever had any CCJs etc.' or was it 'Do you currently have any CCJs etc.?' If it was the first, then yes you should have declared it.
