They only heard about the cancellation after the accident. So nothing to do with ICOBS trying to avoid a claim by cancelling.

The Insurers will say they did nothing wrong. They requested the CBT, it was not received in time, they cancelled the policy and confirmed it in writing.

I have seen it numerous times on forums, where people suggest rushing to court. Perhaps those giving this advice should help with the claims and pay any costs, if they are found to be wrong.

If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Pepipoo have had some success against ecare / esure (I can't remember which) who had a spate of cancelling policies for not producing NCD.

I can't find these cases on google but here is a similar case, the Ombudsman's ruling seems to disagree with CAG's view.

Page 3 has the FOS ruling

The person talking up court action on CAG is the site owner/main site team member. They have the right instincts of wanting to help people, by stressing actions against companies, but they let their heart rule their head. Perhaps they need to place their money behind the actions they are suggesting people take. I have seen them suggest similar legal action against other companies (not insurance related).

There is a point about Insurers cancelling on too many occasions, often due to documents not being received and people then not receiving cancellation letters. But i am not convinced court is the right way and if you are going down that route, then do it properly getting all the info needed. Most people asking for advice on an internet forum would be extremely put off, by even thinking they might have to take a company to court. You can't just issue a court claim anyway, as you are expected to enter into pre action dialogue with the company to seek a resolution first.

He took out insurance for a car for which he was not registered keeper. This is not unusual in a family situation, living at the same address.

Another forum post, where the person posting is a colleague of the family involved. If people want to discuss their issues, it is always better if they post themselves, so they can provide more info.

I suspect there is more to the story.

Looks like that poster is about to allege it was sent to the DVLA and not returned but also sent to insurers. I smell trouble brewing for that boy.

Have you noticed the OP here has only made one post, and only one on CAG.

    Perhaps busy delivering pizzas !

I find that many people register and post on forums, then don't bother responding further. I guess if they are in a position making them anxious, they might be anxious about seeing the responses. Or if the responses such as on CAG talk about court action against Insurers, it might make any anxieties shoot through the roof, as it might make them think they are in a hopeless position.

I think some with biggish problems post a question and then read the answers looking for the answer they want or a killer answer that helps them out.

Unfortunately both those posters need to give much more information for good advice to be given.

As you're both no doubt aware, experience in the industry would lead you to suspect there are other factors that have not been mentioned
