Is it possible to get data from an old mobile to a new mobile via an SD card?
Options
Had an S3 which is dying a slow death. I had an SD card in with 32GB of space. The card was purchased from Currys in a store about 2 years ago so I'm fairly sure it's a genuine card and didn't have any issues with using it.
However, I then managed to get a Huawei phone, (Android) and it also takes SD cards.
I "unmounted" the SD card (didn't wipe it. just clicked on the option to "unmount safely to protect data" from the S3 and put it into the new Huawei bit the Huawei says the SD card is blank. I don't understand...
Is there any way if I put the SD card back into the S3 and re-load all the data, that I can then upload this to the new Huawei?

You need to install a backup app from the Play Store, backup all your apps and data to the sd card and then install the sd in the new phone, install the same backup app on the new phone and restore the apps and data from the card.
The phone won't use the sd card unless you tell the apps to use it. I'd think at the moment everything is stored on the phone memory.0 -
If you've got a Google account for the Samsung S3 and sign into your Huawei phone with the same account any data backed up will sync across too. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0

For contacts, and calendar you don't even need a card.
It's a different story for photos and music.Huawei says the SD card is blank0 -
Its easier to do with via apps utilising backup manager, helium and sms backup0

Define 'data'.

It's a different story for photos and music. Is it literary what it says? Can you see your 'data' on the SD card using a file manager in your old phone or using windows explorer in your PC when the phone is connected as an external storage device to it?
No, it just says "empty". Although there appears to be 7.1mb taken up with something but if I tap on it or get a break down, everything shows as blank. I don't understand this. I also don't understand where the other 20mb of apps and files went between the SD card leaving my S3 and being started in the Huawei.
I can upload some of the apps as I can log in to Google Play and install everything again, but some had saved things on them and simple little things (and I know this isn't the end of the world by far but for example) I was playing games which I'm now assuming I'll be back at zero at or notes I'd written in the notes app which are now gone. I did save them to the SD card but can't seem to get them back.
The easiest way to get some of the data from one phone to the other was via the NFC/touching the handsets together to connect. But not everything did swap over.0
