From January to November 99% of Amazon shoppers only care about " cheap ". The cheapest is all that matters. That's Music Magpie's business model. Software that ensures they are always the cheapest. Those CDs will and do sell for those prices, eventually and a shopper will choose Music Magpie because they will be offering it at the cheapest price.

I care January to December lol. Why give up on the month when you spend the most!? Anyhow, I'm sure there's been times when I've bought an item off another seller because they haven't dropped the price or condition hasn't been as good.

They do drop prices, but it's not instant so they're not the cheapest 24/7 and that price can sometimes go back up again if another item sells and there's a bigger price gap.
This Christmas, I sold a copy of second hand copy of an Xbox 360 video game on Amazon for over £20. Music Magpie would probably have given me £ 1.21 for it. Today, the current used price of this item is now between £4 and £5 so Music Magpie are probably offering pence for it. It just so happened that when I went to list it, there were only two copies listed, and both of them were over £20. So I listed £1 cheaper and I got the sale. I could not believe somebody would pay £20 for this game. But it happened. I was the cheapest. That was all that mattered. I have been waiting for a complaint or a return request. I honestly cannot believe anyone would pay £20 for that game, which is available in any second hand game shop for £5. But somebody out there did. Millions of people look at Amazon. You only need one person who really wants that CD and can't get it anywhere else.

I sold an old (and rubbish) PS2 game a few years back for around £15. Cost me £5 years before and at the time of selling I could have easily bought it for like £3, maybe less. Sometimes people pay more than they have to...way more. I don't get it, but I'm not complaining :p

On the side of trading, I've traded in games for more than I could get online. Traded in a game for £18 cash to a shop, would have maybe sold for £18-20 online, but you've got fees and postage off that.

Also last year I got £1.50 cash for a PS2 game. Couldn't have got more than 30p at other shops and it's less than £4 on ebay in very good condition. So after fees and postage it wasn't worth it, plus mine wasn't in very good condition and, assuming it actually sold, I would have worried about someone saying it was faulty as it wouldn't play when I first got it. I didn't bother with it for ages and ages but then when I did try it again it worked fine so that was really odd lol. The shop should test and clean any disks though so no issues there, I'm sure it was fine anyway. Just not worth that risk on ebay though.

Generally I don't get why people trade in, prices are terrible. However, sometimes it can be worthwhile checking the trade in price and seeing if there are any trade in offers around.

I've done it with a few mobile phones, the return was probably a few pound less than I'd get selling on Ebay or Amazon but I didn't have the hassle, once I was paid that was it. As far as media goes, getting 30p for a CD I could sell for £5 is quite different.
