Best place to sell classical CDs?

Hi folks,
Not sure if this is the right forum, but I am trying to sell some of my Dad's massive collection of classical music CDs. I suspect I would get very little for them on eBay unless I sold them in bundles. Does anyone have any experience of this? Are there any Facebook groups for selling this kind of thing? I'm not even sure if Music Magpie take them.
I'm enjoying my massive clear out at the moment, but it's been a bit of a puzzle as to where to sell some of the more obscure items!
Thanks in advance for any help,
Isabelle

I have had some luck selling CDs via webuybooks.co.uk and the service is better than Music Magpie IME. You don't need to register to check your items on the site so maybe try a few and see what prices they are offering?0

CDs are generally worthless. A carboot, Gumtree or Facebook (cash in hand) may be the best. Of course, check that none are rare/collectable/valuable first. You may be able to get 20p-£2 for them.
Any trade-in place is likely to give up 10-20p a CD, if that. Be lucky to get 1p for some CDs. I'd recommend trading in a store though (such as CEX) so they can't go missing or downgrade the condition, if you go down that route.0 -
My dad's collection all went to a charity shop, no one seemed to be interested at all in classical music.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thank you all, I didn't think there'd be much of a market for them. I'll try music magpie etc and see if they'll take them.
Thanks for the help!

definatley try music magpie , last year i went to an auction and bought a box of classical CDs for £5 and went on music magpie and inputted them all in and 95% we listed and ending up making over £200
granted some were only 30p but a lot were over £1 a disc and some of the doubles were over £3
if you got the time its worth checking as they are less common and more sought after"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0 -
Thanks, I'll attack the CDs with my phone and scan a few to see what happens on Music Magpie. I didn't think I'd get anything for them, but anything is better than nothing

If you've got a smartphone, download the Amazon app. In the search box you can scan the barcodes with your camera. You'll then see the value on Amazon and if they're worth selling there.
You may have one or two that have some value, sadly, most will not, so could be a haul to get to them.
If you haven't got a smartphone you can input the barcode number on Amazon for a similar check..0 -
Sorry, I missed the previous reply. Any that sell on Music Magpie for £1-£3 will likely be selling on Amazon for a fair bit more.
If I'd bought a box for a fiver in an auction I'd use Music Magpie, if it was a personal collection I'd use Amazon.
As I said on another thread it can also be worth bundling up and putting on Ebay as a wholesale lot..0 -
I had thought of doing some bundles. I'll make sure I check Amazon too. It's quite a daunting task - there are hundreds of the damn things so I'll have to do a couple of boxes at a time. Still, it should keep me busy!

With CDs (and DVDs & books) you can quite often come across one or two that make it worthwhile. It tends to be odd ones too, anything that you think may be popular is unlikely to have a high value..0
