Contents insurance including bikes?

Hi there.
Struggling to find any reasonable insurance quotes for home contents including bikes.
I've got 2 bikes, and they're both very expensive. I'm getting some silly quotes. When i try to insure bikes separately, they want 2 * policies which is a bit daft since it's difficult to ride 2 bikes at the same time. I wouldn't expect to have to pay double.
I know bikes are quite nickable but I'm being quoted almost the same as my car. They are stored at home and locked with a sold secure lock (both wheels) when out - so being a sensible bike owner a reasonable quote would be good!
Anyone know of some reasonable insurers? With home contents would be easier but also open to a separate bike policy if it works out better and / or cheaper.
Many thanks!

How much are the bikes worth?
I have just renewed with Shelia's Wheels, good quote for contents and buildings (inc 2 normal bikes)0 -
If you mean bike as in bicycle try specialist insurers like cycleguard who will cover theft and damage to the bike and maybe cheaper than home insurance addition (plus won't have to register a claim on your home insurance if they were stolen)
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Shame it's very poor cover0 -
Have a look at M&S and also Axa mid net policy0

Not sure why you say that, it seems to have what we need and it's a good price.0 -

It's a policy with poor cover from a poor company.
I hope you selected a reasonable sum insured and did not accept the £18k their site suggested as they have a well documented history of voiding many many policies for under insurance when the customer puts in a claim.
It's almost like they deliberately set the trap and then instruct their loss adjusters to check the sum insured as the first thing they do when handling a claim0 -
We had to claim for a damaged bath, the claim was handled well and we were happy with the service we received, so each to their own I guess.0

Thanks for your replies guys. Ill check out your various recommendations. In answer to your question btw - each bike is 2k. I think it's just a case of reading the small print - regardless of how unbelievably mundane that is. I've been stung a couple of times before on home and travel insurance, but buried somewhere are the the often ridiculous stipulations. But insurers can't back out if it's not excluded in the t's and c's.0

Perhaps you could enquire at your bike shop, they may know.0

You problem is really that the risk of your bike being pinched is high.
It is far easier to steal a bike than a car - you can't pick a car up and hide it in a Ford Transit. Nor can you take any lock off with an angle grinder and drive it away because it will have immobilisers.
On the other hand, if your £2,000 bike is secured by an identical lock to the one next to it which was picked up on Freecyle (ha ha) the risk of actually getting caught in the act of stealing it is exactly the same.
So yours is a far more attractive target to the professional thief whilst the rogue simply wanting to avoid walking home from the pub will not be able to work out how to take either of them.0
