I think you need to say what your budget is - total including travel (be that flights or car/rail) accommodation and food/drink.

If you're considering a holiday abroad, what are your preferred airports?

If abroad - do you both have current passports?
If you don't that will add almost £120 to your costs.
  • We are a big fan of Centre Parcs and have booked to go there as a family. Your son could join in with activities or not as he wishes and there is plenty of things you could do there either together or separately. Very quiet and safe environment - no cars allowed except for unpacking and packing from villas/apartments. You could ask if your son wants to bring a friend.

Last time I looked Centreparcs were ridiculously expensive in the school holidays, and most of the activities you have to pay for on top and are expensive.

My husband and I have recently separated and it has been very difficult for our 12 year old son to come to terms with. I'd really like to be able to take him on holiday during the summer (probably late August due to school holiday restrictions), preferably somewhere where there'll be other children but I have a limited budget and no idea where's best to go... Any suggestions or advice would be really appreciated x
What sort of budget? What is he into, eg adventure stuff, sports, beach, pool etc?

And then check out how many people post on here with UK questions :D

Really though it really does swing on what sort of budget for any meaningful suggestions- not to mention what they both enjoy doing.

I kind of smiled at the lecture about budgeting - Plenty of single parents work and find the budget balances far better after a split than before -The OP is presumably an adult judging by the age of her son so hardly needs to be told she may not know if she cannot afford a holiday or not. I do wonder if a male poster in the same situation would get the same paternalistic lecture.
