I didn't want a refund, I just wanted a replacement. Initially they said we were to contact Dyson although they did eventually say they would send it for us.
Well Dyson are usually pretty good when it comes to service calls so you may find it quicker and easier to deal directly with them.

Unfortunately you are not legally entitled to either, they can repair the item which it appears they were going to arrange (eventually).
Well, if you want to be pedantic they are legally entitled to either one of the three (repair, replacement or refund), which one will depend on a number of factors as we all know.

I know several people who have had dealings with Dyson's customer service and they have all said that the CS is excellent. One of my friends has a Dyson vacuum cleaner which is over 10 years old, she has sent it back to be repaired 3 times and she reckons it's still the best machine she has ever used.

Curry's customer service on the other hand, is not very highly rated, their staff tend to be young and mostly ignorant of consumer rights and laws. (Which is not necessarily their fault.) From what I've heard, on here and elsewhere, is that they'll send your machine away, and there is then the strong possibility that you'll either get someone else's product back, or yours with the same fault, or they'll "lose" it for weeks.

Go direct to Dyson, they'll fix it without quibble, they won't try to charge you anything and it will probably be sorted out much more quickly.
