Photoshop Elements on Ebay-Download?

Hi, I wanted to get Photoshop Elements for photo processing. Not bothered about having the latest version so saw one on Ebay, version 12 which is sold as a download.
It seems that the download will be from the Adobe site so as long as I'm not expected to d/load from a dodgy site, I'm happy. Apparently, a code and download link will be sent to me. I'm very cautious of downloading viruses etc, so would never consider downloads from file sharing sites, etc.
Price is good and the feedback good also. He had been a member of Ebay for many months and feedback customers all state how pleased they are with the download.
I know my money is safe as I'm paying by Paypal but I'm more concerned about whether the software will expire after a period or whether the download site is real.
So I'm just looking for advice on whether it is likely to be a scam or legitimate?
Obviously I'm making the assumption that the seller is authorised to offer legitimate downloads as a reseller of Adobe products for which he appears to offer other versions and products, such as lightroom, etc.

Care to provide a link to this seller so we can take a look?
Lots of software on ebay is fine but lots can be dodgy and by the time it stops working the seller has vanished and whether Paypal protects you then I don't know.

There is so many warnings from Adobe about low cost software being fake or unlicenced and they won't support it that I have to say I'd not risk it myself, the seller is not that established and whilst has sold a number of these it may be that Adobe just haven't caught up with the serial numbers he's sold. Probably OEM but maybe pirated, who knows?
Your choice but I'd not recommend it.

Thanks for that. I can't imagine, if downloaded from the Adobe site that it could possibly be pirated. However, I can envisage a fake link being supplied which purports to be Adobe itself.
I just can't understand how an individual can legitimately sell downloads from Adobe at a low price where Adobe themselves appear to not sell this earlier version of the software any more.
There just seems to be something not quite right here. There is another seller, selling a download for almost the same price (bar a few pence) so maybe this is some sort of illegal activity?0 -
I have been using CS2 for ages and it is FREE!
Just google CS2 for free.0 -
This is the legitimate download link for adobe elements all versions. You will then need the code provided by the ebay seller. https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-downloads.html if you don't trust the link google adobe elements 12 download page. HTH.Better to remain a silent fool than speak and remove all doubt.0

How do I know that link is legit? Only joking!! That's really helpful.
Thanks for the link. I think I'll go for it.0 -

Using CS2 if you didn't actually buy it is not much different to what the OP is planning to do, which is to 'buy' an illegally generated key from somebody with a keygen application.0 -

This seller has sold over £1100 worth of activation keys in the past month yet isn't registered as a business seller.
That one fact alone is enough to suggest that there is something dodgy going on.0 -
As I recall when you move a copy of a genuine your's and bought Elements from one PC to the next you FIRST have to "de-activate/unregister" it from within the program as it is linked to your Adobe ID.
Then you can uninstall and re-install on a new computer.
So if this download has had its activation keys registered to another computer and Adobe see it now being loaded onto a fresh one I don't think they are going to be too happy.
Here is one such link to a forum talking about the doing the deactivation.

The CS2 debacle was because from my memory either the activation server failed or they switched it off or something similar as @cookie365 says.0
