Oil in the deep fat fryer

In the Asian food section of my local Tesco,they have been selling vegetable oil in metal drums. 2 sizes, 15 litres and a smaller one. This is the same brand of oil that is commonly used in many takeways, so if you regularly eat Indian or Chinese takeaways, you probably will have been consuming it anyway! It is a blend of oils, but in my Tesco it is being discontinued and is reduced in price. Please check for yourselves, cos I'm going on memory (always dodgy!)but I think it works out about 56p per litre, which is a good price! If you have a bulk quantity in stock at a good price , you may be encouraged to change your oil more frequently, which is better for your health and the flavour of your food.
The comments about filtering used oil are most valid. If you are conscious of the condition of your oil, deep frying can work out expensive.
Chippies that sell those tasty well browned chips are more often than not cooking them in old oil and don't get me going on the subject of the oil many chippies traditionally use to make their curry sauce!
