My last three cars have been Cat D with no attendant problems! Great wee Clio that rang faultlessly for four years and I sold for 85% of what I paid for it. Then a very dull but reliable Nissan Almera (cost £35 to replace the dented bootlid). Currently driving a Cat D Alfa that I have yet to repair but came with a years MOT and full dealer history.0

OP Take value of car as a private sale undamaged, deduct 20-30%, deduct cost of repairs, deduct a contingency for unknown damage (eg front end suspension damage might mean new gear box etc).
Then you can figure out if it is worth buying.
Repair £700 + Labour is too vague you need that quantified a bit more.0
