Was you getting high percentages on the eligibility checkers even when you wasn't showing on the electoral roll then?.

No the Money Supermarket eligibility said 0% for everything except Aqua that showed 10%.

I used the Capital One eligibility that said I was pre approved if I applied I would get the card. I was given £1500 limit.

The barclaycard checked said 5/10 but I was approved £400 limit.

The checkers were way way off for me. I really don't think they checked back the full 6 years.

I applied for a vanquis card about 7 months ago and was declined, had an email yesterday saying I could apply again so thought I would give it a try as most of my searches are due to fall off soon, some already have and was accepted for it, not sure if this is a good thing or not as its still not a mainstream card which is where I want to be at, but it was nice to hear the accepted word again makes all these on time payments and the credit building worth it.

What do you mean by a mainstream card? What would be the difference?

But aside from APRs there could be plenty of difference in terms of cashback or other rewards, plus balance/money transfer offerings, etc....

The APR is the main difference really and other things like 0% on purchases and stuff like that, I thought I had been accepted but not sure now as on the application it said I had passed the initial checks but they needed to phone me, I've just spoke to them and they confirmed my address, income, and setup a direct debit with me and then she said they would phone me back with a final answer once all that info has been put through, surely they already had that info as it was on my application, left a bit confused now.
  • Can someone answer me this, if you have a credit limit of £200, and you use all of your available credit, then make a payment of say £300 which is £100 too much, does that £100 then become available to use or does the whole payment get rejected???
  • It won't get rejected, but the excess may get returned. It's more of an issue on larger amounts.

If it doesn't get returned (or the account closed/suspended) then it's available to spend.
