I have got in touch with the People's kitchen in Newcastle this morning about donating a big glut of old bath sheets, bath towels and hand towels. They do allot of good charity work and I decided to have a big clear out of the airing cupboard. Some of the bath sheets are about 12 years old, but they do wash up beautifully but have seen better days.
Having said that they could really be useful for their project as they offer food and hot showers at their centre for the homeless.
There was stuff in that airing cupboard that was years old and needed throwing out! Just wanted to make sure it was passed on to others who would have allot of use for it because they do have a reasonable amount of life still left in them!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money

Memories! I used to support the People's Kitchen before we moved away two years ago. Because of work I stayed in hotels a lot, as did colleagues, so we saved up the little bottles of shampoo etc which I gave regularly to the project. It's a great piece of work, they also hand out hot food down on the quayside.

It's still very cold here and I've been pottering around putting 'things' away and moving 'things' to other places. Not very productive!0 -
I missed yesterday, by the time I dealt with hospital, work and customers visiting there didn't seem to be any computer time.
Glad to hear the funeral was OK Csarina. ( Do I know you from TSF?)
Managed to sort out the family for meal yesterday with what was in the fridge. SOn had made some Libyan Couscous soup with some dead looking lamb mince from the freezer - another use up!- so hub had that, I had cheese on toast, was late with lunch becasue of hospital visit so not terribly hungry. DD had some of her favourite tortellinis. All worked out nicely and making good progress using stuff up.
I arranged that I would go to a friend's from choir over the next week. She is on her own often on a Saturday so thought today would be nice. Gets me out of the house to a place that isn't the hospital. She made me lunch.
Central Heating is up the creek, but downstairs mostly heated with underfloor, which seems to be OK. Hope it's sorted soon!
I'm cooking for family/MIL tomorrow, so suggested to hub that we might go to the tapas place. We have dd and her friend here. I will be glad to have the night off cooking!
Son gone away for a few days, so looks like i'm stuck with hospital run on Monday and Tuesday.
Hope you are all enjoying your day."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

TA - try drinking a glass of Cranberry juice every day plus washing with plain unscented soap and flushing the area with the shower every day. My consultant advised that and it's helped a lot. Cranberry juice is an acquired taste but the sugar free is ok! I don't think it cures the problem but think it may stop it coming in future so much.0

I'm another who makes their own candles. Is this easy to do? I've saved some old remnants because I would like to do this. What do you use for a wick?
I get purpose-made wick from H0bbycraft.
I melt the wax in an old 800g dog food tin (!), coat the wick in melted wax and let it harden, then it stays upright in the moulds without support.
The moulds have a little hole that I push the end of the wick through, seal it in place with a sort of mastic putty, and the mould is then set upside-down to be filled with molten wax.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Evening all,
a late posting from me i'm afraid we havent had a good day.
Finally i persuaded hubby to get one of the dogs seen to by a vet. She's got a couple of lumps on her body that i wanted the vet to check out. Turns out she is going to need surgery to have them removed.... they should be ok as they are loose and just under the skin but of course they can never tell till the lumps are removed an analysed. Surgery will be in about 3-4 weeks.
They also discovered she has a heart murmur. It doesnt need treatment as yet.
Shopping has been put off until tomorrow.
Off down Moms now for an hour.
Tired and weary.... its been a long day.

Good evening everyone,
Hugs to everyone.
csarina glad yesterday went peacefully.
redruby, good news about OH
judi, sorry to hear about the dog.
TA sorry to hear the infection has returned hope the antibiotics clear it up.
I didn't get as much done today as I had hoped. DH went to work but was finished early so he came shopping with me this afternoon.
DS and DD have also been to work and DD should be home shortly, the delivery driver is going to give her a lift home, so it saves me having to get up and go out:rotfl:
I will have to get all the housework done tomorrow.
Have a good evening all x.SPC 11 #4450
