O/S Daily Thread for Saturday 9th January

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all
Hopefully I have the correct month in the thread title today!
I can't sleep, not surprising really, hopefully I will drop off if I go back to bed in an hour or so.
Hubby is working today but not until 10ish and hopefully he will finish mid afternoon.
Csarina, so glad to hear that things passed off peacefully yesterday, the grief is bad enough without things kicking off at the funeral.
No plans here apart from housework and possibly a trip to see FIL tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning HESTER and all to follow. I have been awake most of the night too with the all too familiar gripping pain coming on down below. Obviously my herbal remedies are not having any effect. So, in desperation, I have put myself back on the anti b's that the consultant prescribed to keep in reserve "just in case". Along with glass after glass of water to try and flush the infection through. I have had four different anti b's since early December and still the uti comes back again. After this going on for two years I am getting to the end of my tether.
Moan over, sorry, and I know there are far worse conditions I could have to put up with.
Today we are supposed to be going to Leeds to St James Oncology for a Neuroendocrine Tumour Natter Group meeting. There is a talk by the NET Patient Foundation rep on support and info for patients and their families. Followed by time for coffee/biscuits and informal chat with other sufferers. Mr TA has had a couple of invites before and declined them, but he now feels if they are prepared to put the work in organising these meetings he should support them. He's not in to chatting with strangers usually so this surprised me. The trouble is it starts at 10.30 so we need to be on the 9.00 train to get there in time. I don't want him to go on his own but I feel so rubbishy I don't feel like going. I'll dose myself up with painkillers and see how I feel when it's time to leave.
My cleaning plans yesterday didn't materialise in the end. DS called up mid-morning with Roxy dog and ended up staying for lunch too. No sooner had he gone than DB and SIL arrived with my sausage order, delayed the day before. They stayed a couple of hours too and by then it was nearly teatime and too late to bother starting!
Have a good day ((((((HUGS))))) to all in need or wanting one. CSARINA I hope you feel more at peace with yourself today and managed to have a decent night's sleep. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all.
I have been up since 4.30 but did go to bed ridiculously early so probably that balances out. Did a lot of domestic jobs yesterday, not too much left to finish. Washing seems never-ending, ironing done (for a change).
I am glad that yesterday went smoothly Deleted_User and still thinking of you.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
Csarina - thinking of you and sending gentle hugs x
HH - hope you get some sleep at some point today x
Still dark, but not raining, and ground looks like it is drying up a bit, but more rain and wind is forecast, if we don't get it today it looks we will tomorrow, not had a frost either.
Dinner last night was an easy breaded chicken pieces, chips, beans/veg for the menfolk. I had mushroom omelette and salad. Today's food will be a bit fluid as not sure what we're up to except that DH will be taking me into town first thing to visit the bank.
My new iron is good and is a bit lighter than the old one, which I'm grateful for as it was too heavy. Got the remaining clothes ironed that needed it. Will do another load maybe 2 at some point today, I must get the menfolks' work/school stuff done.
I will need to take niece's birthday prezzie and card at some point over the weekend so she has it for tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

Another team member has resigned due to the woefully inadequate training she has received from the manager , she has only been with us 3 months but it was too stressful I feel so sorry for her , that's 3 gone , another one has an interview next week which will only leave me and the manager
I've been dieting this week and I've managed to lose 2lbs so I'm pleased with that :T
It's mil's 91st birthday today and we are taking her out for a meal hope I don't blow the diet
Have a lovely day everyone xx0 -

Meal plan was for lentil soup tonight, but veg box delivery yesterday had a beautiful squash in it, so squash soup with Stilton HM cheesy bread.
DD is awaiting a last few things for her volenteering trip to Kenya in 2 weeks - it's come round so fast - I will miss her, but am very proud of her X

Good morning chums, well it seems dry at the moment but who knows.I am off to the wilds of Norwich to take my DGS Ben back to Uni today. His Dad has gone down with man-flu and we all know how bad that can get
:):)But I don't mind as it gives me a bit more time with Ben.
Just going to have a plate of porridge to keep me going and perhaps take a couple of bananas for us to munch on the way Its about 140 miles from where we live so I am hoping by the time we have loaded up the car with all his bits and pieces and get on the road we shall be there before lunch.DD will probably come with us as well and make sure he has enough food etc in the student house .We will probably have to do a shop for him to stock up as his student house is a bit of a trek from the shops.
So that's Saturday taken care of.I should be back home before it gets dark at least.
Csarina I am glad for you that it all went off peacefully, bad enough, without families kicking off.Now please be kind to yourself and allow time to grieve and heal <<<hugs >>> to you and your family
Hope everyone is warm and dry today, Snow is forecast in some parts I know ,hopefully nowhere near Norfolk

Good morning! Csarina - glad yesterday went as well as it could have done.
Yesterday was a bit of a wash out for me - had a minor accident on the bike so nursed bruised legs yesterday afternoon and evening. Will try to get on with yesterday's list today.

Balance accounts
Pay in cheques for sons done
Send back coat (too small for son) done
Meet up with sister and give her cardy to send back (my birthday present but it's wrong style) done
Try on cycling shoes and send back the ones that don't fit.done
Clean spare room for guest Done
Clean upstairs Done by DH
Mop kitchen floor
Washing Washed uniforms, hung and dried
Ordered curtain fabric for front room curtains. Got it from Laura Ashley and got 6% back on quidco and 10% off total amount (and fabric was in sale). Still blimming expensive though! They are massive curtains though and we've saved up the money for them so that's good. That'll be a good weekend or two of work on the sewing machine then!

Morning everyone. Another very cold and frosty one too.
Yesterday passed in a blur of doing very little a lot of the time. I drove into our nearest town to drop off some books at the doctors surgery, they have small corner for donating and buying paperbacks. Then I walked down the main street and did a sort of circuit back to my car. I try now to park some distant from where I actually want to be just so I can get some walking in.
Today may be a repeat of yesterday though I've got a bunch of cards I want to write and send. I've become so hopeless nowadays when it comes to birthdays that I'm going to send 'just because' cards. Pathetic I know.
TA - so sorry to hear that you're still bring troubled despite taking the witches brew. And I hope the trip to the meeting is worthwhile.
First cup of tea of the day coming up.
Happy Saturday everyone.0 -
Morning all. The temperature has dropped considerably here and was 15 degrees when I went in the kitchen so have turned the heat up a bit. I have another load in the wash and need to wash some bed sheets again this morning as madam had an accident in the night. Apart from that I have a to-do list that I want to work through although motivation is sadly lacking.
The squash curry last night was really nice and something we would definitely have again. Tea tonight is hm burgers and rolls. I have a lovely recipe for milk rolls which they all enjoy so will get started on them after my coffee. It's too cold and wet to go to the park so it will be indoor activities today.2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000
