How we contacted Virgin Media's 09 Number

Options
Originally under the throttling users page-
WAY TO CONTACT VIRGIN MEDIA BROADBAND HELP LINE "directly"
Phone 012567520000
ask to be out through to the 09 number
moan bout the fact you cant phone 09 numbers cause you got them blocked through your phone company.. you "originally got put through to 09 etc via customer relations" but be nice to these people.. its their contact for the CEO!

then clame you were talking to someone on the 09 number and they cut you off

then threaten to leave, what ever they say about they can't transfer people, basically i got it out of them that its just company policy to..

you'll have to wait while they get permission.. but they eventually got us through

let them put you through to customer relations

then repeat the fact you cant call 09 numbers, you got cut off after someone put you through to the 09 via customer relations.. threat again as required.. but customer relations are the way to go

enjoy the 09 number for the price of what should be a normal geographical call (we'll have to wait till my mobile statement to see the exact costs)

____
if all else fails, bramble on about the sales of goods and services..
then the unfiar contact laws etc

Hope this helps ^_^

Basically before you do anything, connect the modem direct to a PC.. give them both a good power cycle.. then ping 192.168.100.1 or 192.168.1.100 (via start/run cmd, then type "ping 192.168.100.1" without the " ) this tests your modem

then ping and outside address, and a speed
test @ http://www.speedtest.net/
(though this is not 100% accurate...

then go to http://gamefiles.virginmedia.com/blueyondergames/battlefield1942/battlecraft/
and download the samples.zip file and note the transfer rate

these are standard tests they ask for when you phone, do these first and if they still dont reach the speed you need then phone them... otherwise google problems with your router
