Photographs are a very good idea.

I must admit that when I hire a car or get a courtesy car, such as when I used to get cars provided by Jaguar Assist I would take pictures of any damage including each wheel.

And the mileage when the car was picked up with a new set of photos of the bumpers.

    Paranoid?

    Perhaps....
  • One other thing cancel your direct debit with the leasing company after the final payment. They normally charge your account before sending the bill. You are in a better position this way.

    Good result.

I've got a VW going back in a few months and fines at the end of contract seem to be more common now so already half expecting a bill from them.

Lease companies follow BVRLA standards when taking a car back and will hammer you left right and centre if your car is anything but perfect considering its age and mileage.

There is a good guide online for returning your lease car on the BVRLA website.

If you think your car will fail on something, get it sorted yourself. I've known lease companies to charge double or triple on what you get charged at your local garage. HTH

The car is more or less mint apart from a few stone chips to the bonnet but I know they will pick up on something!

Anyone have recent experience of VW finance and returning a car?
