A thread for 'the usual suspect' to comment on Aberdeen.

Latest Data:

ASPC: Prices -0.8% YoY

Screen_Shot_2016_01_08_at_16_12_50.png

This is wholly insignificant, and given how far prices are above 2007 levels, would be insignificant even if the falls were much larger and sustained for many years.

Other sources confirm price changes in the market are minor:

ROS: Prices -2.2% YoY

Acadata: Prices -1.8% YoY

For comparison, Scotland average is -2.0% YoY

Citylets:

While rents are definitely dipping, they're still not far off double what they were in 2007 and still represent excellent returns on investment. As they would if they fell 50% for most people.

Lets keep the Aberdeen related posts in this thread just for the topic.

Any further Aberdeen posts cluttering up all the other threads will be reported as off topic.

    Wow.
Edinburgh rents up almost 8% YoY!
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

The oil industry alone by far has made the Aberdeen housing market as high as what it is. If oil remains sub $35 for much longer then that housing market will collapse, simple as.

    Good news.

I could do with picking up some more property on the cheap.

Hopefully the Crashtastic Crash to end all Crashes that Crashy Time keeps talking about will come along soon....

Unfortunately there's no sign of it yet.:(

Yep, it's called catching a falling knife by stock brokers

Good luck with that, you are not the first person I have seen clinging on to a past Bull market, but yours will be the most fun :)

I have no desire to cling on to a past Bull market, I want to buy more property, so the cheaper it gets the better it is for me.

    Let em crash!!! :money:

What do you think is driving this "increase"?

Umm, because it's where I live?

Doesn`t make much sense though, do you want multiple houses for yourself, or do you think the rental sector will survive the meltdown of oil prices? Quoting estate agent figures for last month or whatever isn`t a guide to where Aberdeen will be in a year or two.
