If the deadline falls on a weekend or bank holiday, make sure your payment reaches HMRC on the last working day before (unless you’re paying by Faster Payments or by debit or credit card).

Well, that was quick. Have had John Lewis on the phone, I now have the direct phone number for the senior Customer Services Manager, and he has actually managed to speak to Hotpoint and it turns out they had not bothered calling me because it is not in stock until 26th January. To be honest he sounded as cross with them as me because they hadn't contacted me. At least I now know and can plan accordingly.

Yes this is normal, just make sure you have a copy of the submission receipt reference number
