Babies on planes (a question, not a rant!)

Business class travellers had already boarded, and there were a couple of kids maybe 12-13 with their Dad (I presume) and the kids were throwing nuts to each other trying to get them in the other's mouth. A snotty looking couple sat nearby looked really disgruntled :rotfl:
After paying thousands of pounds to be sitting in that cabin, perhaps the 'snotty looking' couple were justifiably looking really disgruntled.
It's usually not the kids that is the problem, but the parents...allowing their kids to throw nuts at each other on an aircraft compounds that view.
You think it was amusing..... perhaps if you sat next to those kids in a premium cabin for a long flight after paying a fortune for the privilege, maybe your mindset would change.0 -

Peronally I wouldn't be stupid enough to pay a fortune to be surrounded by spoilt kids or snotty stuck up people. I prefer the company of the plebs in cattle class0 -
Do it, if something happens to the elderly relative and you don't seem them (or they don't have the chance to meet your little one) you'll regret it. As others have said, plan well and I agree it will hopefully be easier with a 9mth old who is a little less mobile than a toddler.
On one of my last trans Atlantic flights (for business but in cattle class) a massive party on a school trip boarded with us - they took up most of the centre seats of the flight we were on, I was dreading the flight and what they might be like after several long days of work and being tired (me not them). In fairness, they were perfectly entitled to be excited and in high spirits. two hrs into the flight it was as if they'd all been anaesthetised, teenagers all asleep and not a peep the entire flight :rotfl: It was probably one of the quietest flights I've ever been on (me on the other hand didn't sleep a wink - typical)
Babies on flights really don't bother me too much, its not their fault if they cry - its the kids sat behind that constantly kick the back of my seat that winds me up (then again I've been on flights where its an adult doing that too )
OP - hope you decide to make the trip.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Yes I found it highly amusing. And illustrates the point about a flight being nothing more than public transport whatever class you're in, and like all public transport you share with other members of the public.

Your post says far more about you than it does about people who choose to fly in business class.0 -

Because the kids of" plebs "are never PITAs on flights in your opinion ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

So no generalisation of people who fly in premium cabins there then!
You are correct in stating that irrespective of what part of an aircraft you fly in, it is a form of public transport - I get that.
Why you feel the need to take gratification at some passengers apparent disdain at having to endure kids throwing peanuts at each other while the parent(s) let them get on with it may suggest to many that you would condone that sort of behaviour. Your comments say more about yourself than those you criticise.
Many people in the cabin you alluded to may have saved up for years to travel in business class for a once in a lifetime experience.
Many have worked all of their lives who may have only been able to afford to travel in economy, but after their kids have grown up and have now have disposable income, can now afford to travel in a bit more luxury.
Not all passengers in premium cabins are 'stuck up''snotty' or 'spoilt' or have their tickets paid for by their employers.
My post was not reflecting on the class of cabin, but more on the ignorant parents who seem quite content to make every passengers experience on a flight (or any means of public transport for that matter) a total misery.
It would be interesting to know how you would react if those 'spoilt or snotty kids' and other 'stuck up' people who were being a PITA were sat next to you with the rest of the 'plebs' in 'cattle class' or the bad parents who just let them get on with it....although judging by your comments, many may conclude that you are one of them!
You really must get that class chip off your shoulder!:rotfl:I really can't believe anyone took that seriously. I use words like plebs, cattle class and added a, deary me... This is getting worse than the Nifty show on the other thread.
Ah....you have realised that when you are in a hole.........! But the :rotfl: still remains I see.0 -

Hi everyone, OP here.
Sorry about the late reply - I leave my MSE foruming until I'm at work (don't tell the boss!).
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the replies - it's given us lots of handy viewpoints and food for thought.
To answer an earlier question - yes it is West coast (LAX) we're looking at. And if anyone was wondering, it was me as the OP who was less worried about the flying and more keen to see my elderly grandma.
Now please feel free to return to your spirited class-war banter0
