timing migratiion without termination fee

I would guess this is a common problem ?

I want to migrate from my current BT openreach isp deal to another BT-OR isp, but I want it to happen on the day (or after) my contract ends, to avoid a termination fee.

Do I need to wait for the last day before I take action ? (i.e. fill a form for new ISP)

I presume you can't put on the form, wait until the 25th

Your contract doesn't "end", just reaches the minimum term. After this point you will almost certainly need to give 30 days notice to your existing ISP. If you told use who the ISP was it would help.

I arranged a switch to Zen over the phone. They told me that it would take 10 working days. They set up the order in advance and said to call them to activate the order 10 working days before I wanted the switch to happen. That's what I did and the switch happened on the right day.

Under the new rules a normal switch should only require 2 weeks notice and that is given by the new ISP as part of the switching process.
