I'm shocked people laughed, I worked in housing benefits for years & its a common problem, being dyslexic or just unable to read & write. your partner should explain & ask for help in completing forms. Have a look at the link here, it might help. https://www.gov.uk/improve-english-maths-it-skillsTallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0

Sorry to hear about your situation op.
Take a look at http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/money_problems/in_a_crisis/cash_in_a_crisis (if the link doesn't work Google Shelter cash in a crises). The page gives ideas and links including asking for a benefit advance (perhaps something your other half could do), welfare support from your local council and contacting local food banks.
Contact a fee free debt support agency too so that you don't try to pay off your loans and find yourself in the same position next month but get a plan in place.
Good luck with everything.0 -
OP - you might find these useful to read about dyslexia:

You've had some very good advice about money that I can't add to so I'll just say good luck to both of you0 -
You are in a very difficult situation, but it's not fatal. I've been where you are myself in the past, as have others on this forum.
I don't pull punches when I give advice, so take a deep breath and read on.
You have got your priorities wrong. You've paid your phone bill and your wi-fi bill, but don't have any money to put on your electricity - is that correct? And I get you've spent up because you overspent on Christmas and New Year. Correct again?
Can you get your bank to recall these payments if they were by direct debit? Lie to the bank and tell them you told the phone and wi-fi company not to take the payments. That will give you some money in the bank.
Do as others have suggested and go to CAB for advice and a food bank voucher. Go and see a local vicar. Church groups can often help with local emergencies.
Sell something at Cash Converters or a pawn shop. You don't need a mobile phone - you've admitted you don't talk to your family, so why do you need one? Sell the computer. You can't afford wi-fi and broadband.
Put up a SOA (Statement of Affairs) on here and we can help with seeing where you are overspending. You can get out of the mess, but it will take time, patience and perseverance.
Good luck."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
OP, you're in a really tight situation, but you can get out of it and there is an end in sight when you get paid. It's only temporary.
Spend today going through your house. What can you sell? Clean it top to bottom and collect up any coins you might find along the way. Look down the back of the couch, in pockets of clothes you haven;t worn in ages, in old handbags etc and rummage. It's amazing what you'll find.
Once you've got all the money you can together, think about priorities. I'd definitely recommend the local food bank as a good place to start. Even if you're not religious, get to your local church and throw yourself at their mercy - you'll be surprised how welcoming they are even if you're not a regular. You might be able to feed yourselves for free doing this combined with anything you've currently got lurking in the cupboards. If you've stuff in the cupboards that you don't know how to cook/what you could make with them, post a list on a new thread and we'll be only to happy to help!
If you're wifi bill hasn't gone out of the bank yet, cancel it and let it default, along with anything else that'd due to go out. Use the local libraries for internet access when you need it.
It's winter, so if you can feed yourselves for free, heating should be the next priority if you're still cold when wrapped up inside.
Wishing you all the luck in the world till payday. Stay positive!

its not to hard to get out of the crap
open new bank account and update your pay details at work, cancel your bank card, tell the bank your card was stolen or something. then worry about the payday loans later on
you said you have an xbox.... I assume it has games aswell? computer / mobile / TV , sell them all if they are worth anything, youll even find a TV for free on them facebook buy and sell sites if yours is worth selling.
don't know how bad your credit is but try and switch accounts to Halifax bank, they give you £100 there and then for switching.0 -
I literally have no money, my electric meter is on 68p emergency, My bank is currently -£37 as my wifi bill needed to come out, I have a few packs of noodles to eat (between me and my boyfriend) and i use my out of date buspass to get to work. There's another 20 days before I get paid and i don't know what to do. I already have 3 payday loans out and don't speak to my family so can't borrow (i think I've done enough of that anyway).
I'm at my wits end.
How are you getting away with using an out of date bus pass to get to work? You are potentially facing a fine by doing so. Can you speak to your work and get an agreement with them to pay your bus fare out of your salary? (might help their "green" credentials).
Have you got an over draft facility? You say you have no money but can go below a zero balance? You say that you will be -£37 in debt after your internet is paid? Do you have the facility to cover this charge? I would highly recommend your speak to your bank at the very least to ensure you do not get charges.
You have not said how much your earn. I presume you are paid an hourly wage as your said your hours were reduced?Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0 -

Hi,
You cant avoid it, your fictitious credit score should be the last thing on your mind just now.
People are giving you options for dealing with this, you need to listen to them.
The PDL`s are obviously going to create more trouble for you, you will be repaying them by "constant payment authority" from your bank card, rather than by DD, this is what you should do :
(1) Ring your bank, inform them you have lost your bank card, they will send you a new one, with a different number, the Pay day loan companies wont have this new card number, so any attempt to debt your account will be declined.
Tried and tested method despite what anyone may say about constant payment authority, done it myself.
(2) write, or email your lenders, tell them you are in financial difficulty, and cant make the agreed repayments.
You then ask them to agree a payment arrangement, from the next month, that you can afford, that's it, simple.
They are obliged to treat you fairly, and allow 30 days grace so you can organise yourself, but you need to be proactive here, and get something sorted with them.
Forget your credit score, this matter needs urgent attention so you wont be left without any money next month as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
