I do read a lot of fiction but for non-fiction I enjoy biographies though not 'celebrity' ones only those of people who have done something interesting or important historical figures. Other non-fiction books I read are mainly psychology books, I find it helps dealing with people if I can get an insight into how their mind works.Chin up, Titus out.0

Hi all! This is my ideal thread! I'm a huge advocate of use it or lose it with regards to libraries. Well, I do work in one. I probably do about 60/40 real books vs kindle.
Last year finished on 55 books for the year. I always a for 52. One a week.
So, at the moment I'm on Guy Martins Autobiography. Am not into bikes in the slightest but I like him and his attitude and enthusiasm.
Love these threads for inspiration too!

Yes, called Rex, and he couldn't have possibly last as long as he seems to, so either Ranger or Joe keeps replacing him without Stephanie noticing. I'm for Joe, as Ranger keeps replacing the cars, so it seems like division of labour.0 -
Hi there, do you mind if i join in please?
I am aiming to read all the books that i have stored on my Kindle and the ones in paperback too.
I am currently reading 'Splintered' by A.G. Howard. It's the first in series. It's based on the 'Alice in Wonderland' story by Lewis Carroll. But it's a fantasy book about the great-granddaughter. VERY good so far.
Are any of you on Goodreads? If so, PM me if you want to add me0 -
I read The Girl with no Past by Kathryn Croft yesterday and really enjoyed it. I'm reading another one of her books today.:)0

I've just finished James Lee Burke's Wayfaring Stranger which was brilliant, like all of his books. It's set in post war America and is the first in a new series featuring Weldon Holland and part of the Holland family series. Set in Texas and Louisiana it's beautifully written and tightly constructed with interesting, complex characters and strong themes.
You can make a good case for James Lee Burke as the best American contemporary author - his thrillers really surpass the genre and can be read on many levels.0 -
Crowdpleaser: I gave Guy Martin's autobiography to my son for Christmas as he IS into bikes in a big way, and he has said that I would enjoy it. So have negotiated a 'lend'.
Kindle is marvellous. 99 pence or less is about what I am prepared to spend on an unknown book or author and I have picked up an amazing variety of books that I wouldn't have dreamt of buying usually. I recently enjoyed "What would Mary Berry do"? By Claire Sandy. Very light but it made me laugh.
I am also into all sorts of self-improvement books - plenty of room for it here. By now I should be slim, energetic, de-cluttered, organised, clear thinking and a joy to all who know me. But of course, i'd have to get out of bed first.

Oh the thread is moving fast.
Finished The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom last night. I adore his books. This one took a little longer to get into than usual but by halfway I was hooked and whizzed through the rest.
I read a bit of anything really. Just depends on my mood or how much I can focus. Not sure what my next read will be, will come back later and let you all know when I decide. Aiming to read 40 books this year but secretly wanting to hit 50.0 -
Book 2
Sharpe's Tiger: The Siege of Seringapatam
I have never seen the TV series, so I had no pre-conceived ideas about this book. A Kindle Daily Deal had a number of the Sharpe books on offer at 99p each, so I bought the first two in the series - this was the first.
The character of Sharpe himself is very compelling - a rough and ready private soldier, who is not above thieving, but a decent man, who is popular with the ladies.
When the book was telling Sharpe's story, I really enjoyed it, but there were some very chunky paragraphs dealing with battles - I enjoyed this part less and have marked down accordingly. But I will read the second book in the series
Score 7.5/10Early retired - 18th December 2014
