Have read the olive branch by jo Thomas and I really enjoyed reading it, I couldn't put it down. It was such a heart warming read about finding yourself and the importance of family along with a lot of Italian food. I recommend it.£2 savers club 2025 #2= £480

Recommended.
Finished it today. I was enjoying it right up to the last few pages ... the ending was a cop out and beyond belief imo! I'd sort of guessed it, then thought "Nah, there's no way Kate Morton will go down that route surely".
But she did.Normal people worry me.0 -
Just finished The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters which is really very good, set in the years after the Great War so a change from her more normal Victorian setting.
Unfortunately, now have to read The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry for the book group. I really dislike this genre of novel (if you can call it that) and this seems several steps down from Dan Brown.0 -

Should I be encouraging you to do that? Maybe I'll go and sit on the naughty step.

It wouldn't be the first time.;):o But I'll at least give it a go, if for no other reason than that I've got it in paperback and I can't read the Kindle Fire in bright sunlight.0 -
I have a dilemma with one of my book group. She's missed loads, including the last two. Now she's emailed to say she can't come until September.
She's rather negative anyway, so I'm trying to think of a polite way to say 'bye'.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

Sorry I haven't been around much recently. Life got in the way of any reading for pleasure. I found I was having to read the same few pages over and over again. Interruptions and long delays between picking up a book meant I couldn't get engrossed in anything:(. Definitely not how I like things to be.
I've just had a catch up of the recommendations on here that I've missed. Such a great, eclectic selection to look out for:T0 -

It's always problematic finding the right mix of book group members isn't it?. I was a member of a really good group a few years ago but members moved away due to job changes and other things and there were so few of us left that the group closed down:(. I really missed the discussions we always had and the books that I would otherwise never have considered choosing to read.
There are no groups in this very rural area so I was delighted to see an advert for new book group members in a small town within reasonable driving distance of here. It will be my first meeting next week although the group has already been running for about 3 months. They are currently reading Julian Fellowes' Past Imperfect and I collected my reserved copy from the mobile library today. Must get my skates on now and read it before Monday. Has anyone here read it? Amazon reviews are pretty mixed;)0 -
I certainly hope it's better than mine - people often say "It's an easy read" as if it's the highest praise you can give.0
