I just ordered The Girls by Emma Cline.

I read this today, how can I not have read it before?! So beautifully written, 9.5/10. Went to the theatre this evening but couldn't concentrate on the play as I wanted to get straight back into the book; ended up finishing on the tube. A most pleasant journey home
Books are so much more enjoyable than the theatre, and far more MSE too :money:Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I'm glad someone else feels the same about the theatre, too. I used to be an avid theatre-goer and have taken countless school parties, as well as ushering in a North Wales theatre.
My hearing is not so good now, clarity not volume, so I struggle. The convention of never speaking with back to the audience seems to have died.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Evening all.............
atm reading
'The Mysterious Miss Mayhew' by Hazel Osmond - about half-way through and not sure about it yet.......
Then read
'Frank Derrick's Holiday of a Lifetime by JB Morrison' - which I found a lovely soft story of an older person and funny in parts. Well worth a read so again 8/10
Now reading
'A Night on the Orient Express' by Veronica Henry - enjoying it very much atm and off to read some more now
I love reading actual books but also enjoy reading on my tablet. My local library is just about to start up a 'free to library users' on-line service, which I am looking forward to trying once it's established
Hope you all have a great weekend

I have read a few of Veronica Henry's books but I haven't read this one, I have added it to my read list.
This week I have finished reading the little flower shop by the sea by Ali McNamara it wasn't my cup of tea it was too far fetched and one of the main characters needed a serious kick up the bum because of her attitude. I try to read the whole book,I never like books to go unread or finished prematurely but this was a struggle to read, I couldn't wait to finish it.£2 savers club 2025 #2= £480 -
I had our little princess overnight, and finished this book at the same time (ironically whilst I sat her in my lap in front of her favourite nursery rhymes so I could read uninterrupted
). It comes complete with a Bonne Maman-style cover, 7.5/10.
I don't agree with all the methods the French use, but there is a lot of sense in this book. It also made me want to brush up on my French and familiarise the baby with the language. In particular, I can't wait to use the word bêtiseValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I went to the cheap bookshop in York yesterday and could not resist buying the last book in the Dexter series called "Dexter is dead " by Jeff Lindsay.
I finished reading it this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it but anyone who has just watched it on tv might not feel the same. Things like his sister being portrayed quite differently physically in the books for a start. Best £2 I have spent in a while.
I have a Mercedes Lackey to start and also some Victorian detective
mysteries so will indulge myself later."This site is addictive!"

I wonder whether we could get the two book threads merged - it seems daft to have such very similar threads going at the same time, particularly when they turn up next to each other on the recent posts list.0

I've just read The Amber Keeper, by Freda Lightfoot.
Not quite the usual woman of a certain age looking for her heritage after finding a family relic. Easy read, but pleasant and a page turner.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
