Have you read Last Light and After Light by Alex Scarrow? Frightening dystopia, all too likely.
I've just read a strange one, Good Girl by Fiona Neill. Gripping initially, but I'd say interesting. Anyone with a teenage daughter might become nervous.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Hi guys - I'm new to MSE and I'm delighted to find a thread dedicated to books!
I frequently shop at Wordery who have a bank holiday offer ending tomorrow night. It's 10% off all books and free worldwide delivery. The code is WISHLIST and as far as I can tell applies to everyone.
Anyway, I've spent far too much of this month's salary thanks to the offer so I'd better get reading some money saving tips.
Look forward to chatting to you all.

I've just finished reading the cake shop in the garden by Carole Matthews. What a fantastic read I highly enjoyed reading it and will be keeping it to read again in the future. I am a fan of Carole Matthews books and have a few other books of hers to read on my bookshelf.£2 savers club 2025 #2= £480

Our book group choice this month was "The Husband's Secret" by Liane Moriarty - that's 6 hours out of my life I won't get back! How so many people on Amazon thought well of it, I don't know.0

I haven't read that one. I did read Big Little Lies by her after she, rather than any particular book, was highly recommended on various threads I visit.
I absolutely loved Big Little Lies, even though I wasn't sure it would be my sort of thing. I recommended it to several people who all loved it too. I would certainly read her other books although I haven't managed to do so yet.0 -

.
No, I haven't read them, but they're on my list now. I like UK based stories in this genre, as it makes it even more believable and scary.Treasurequeen wrote: »I've just finished reading the cake shop in the garden by Carole Matthews. I like Carole Matthews, she tells a good story.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Well, good luck with it - I'm certainly reading nothing else she's written.0 -

I can't recall your reporting back on Suite Francais. I'd be interested in your opinion as I still have it to start.
From what you suggest (and from your dislike of the Liane Moriarty which appears to be the subsequent selection) I get the impression that you feel somewhat out of step with others in your book group;)0 -

Some of them are very well written and funny. And it's nice to know I'm not the only one who hated it0 -

I'll need to think back to it but will do.
You're spot on about the bookgroup and me - I keep thinking I'll leave but then I remember that it's the only thing I do at the moment.:( Given that half the group talked about not liking Mansfield Park because it's written in "olde worlde English"(not my choice I have to add) and I disliked the Liane Murphy (which everybody else loved), I think that "out of step" is something of an understatement.0
