It's not a genre I've previously read but having watched The Walking Dead/Fear the Walking Dead/Z Nation I've been reading zombie books
I didn't finish World War Z by Max Brooks - didn't enjoy it.
I really enjoyed The Return Man by V M Zito. I'm hoping for a sequel
Currently reading and enjoying Postive (Zombies. Road pirates. Death cults. He had no choice but to build a new world) by David Wellington. He's written other zombie books so I'll be looking for them when I finish Positive.
Does anyone else read zombie books and can recommend any books/authors? Thank you
if you don't mind young adult books, I really enjoyed Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion. It's a love story, very well written, and set in a zombie apocalypse.0 -

I read Homage to Catalonia a few months ago and thought it excellent. Should I go for Dominion now?
I've just realised that I've mixed up Dominion and Winter in Madrid, which seems derivative of Homage to Catalonia!
Definitely worth a read!Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I think Pollypenny meant that "Winter in Madrid" was like the George Orwell.
I've read that as well (in fact all the C.J. Sansom books) and enjoyed it, but thought "Dominion" even better (it's imagining that we signed a treaty with Germany rather than won the war. The British Resistance are working to destroy the pact). And now I come to think of it that sounds a bit like "Fatherland" by Robert Harris - which I also enjoyed!Normal people worry me.0 -

They are both good.
There's a number books set in a Britain which lost the war to Germany. Robert Harris' Fatherland is the most famous, but try Owen Sheers' Resistance.
I've just finished A God in Ruins. I did like it, in spite of the somewhat pretentious literary references. Kate Atkinson enjoys playing around, and challenging readers, with structure.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I finished Diane Chamberlain's Before The Storm last night I really enjoyed it. It took me 4 days to read and is my 3rd book of this year so far.
