SKY or EE

Hello

So I've had enough of Tesco Broadband the amount of times I have rung them regarding the broadband which has been very intermittent for 4 months now and still not resolved. Plus they're changing to Talk Talk which I've heard many horror stories about - so not staying with them.

I've compared SKY and EE.

Sky although they say free broadband, by the time you have added ll the extras like £20 line exchange (although I have a BT line already) £6.95 router, an extra £5 surcharge to cover the first bill it soon adds up.

EE if I pay up front it seems a good deal although I have to pay £6 to post the router.

All I need is a reliable broadband it doesn't have to be quick as I'm a light user, I'm on my own, I don't need to make phone calls.

Any thoughts on who is the best supplier, customer service etc or would you recommend another service provider.

Thank you

Problem if you move to either then the service comes up the same pipe . If the fault is in the pipe or in your home then your new ISP will inherit the fault .

Better to define the fault and reasons why first.
Is the connection direct from the master socket via cable ??

    Hi
Would be worth ringing Sky and telling them you are thinking of joining them and see what they can offer you.
I'm with Sky and never had any issues but other people will have different opinions
Its all down to peoples opinions and experiences.
PlusNet are also meant to very good; although I have never used them

Also would be worth looking on Quidco to see if there are any cashback offers

    I'm a customer of both.

You shouldn't need to pay the £20 if you have a line already.
Both charge about £6 postage for router

£5 isn't a cost, it is just some money up front.

EE do line rental saver so this is much cheaper.

EE charge less for anytime calls. (you don't need that you say)

EE seam friendlier to deal with.

I've used both for BB and phone line. Both offered a decent service with very little down time, but I have found EE to have far friendlier people on the phone; in fact my phone line went down NYE and the woman on the phone was great, happy and chatty. I much prefer their customer service to Sky and probably wouldn't change now unless there was a big issue or big price increase.

    Thank you for your replies.
I rang SKY and they offered to take the £20 off however wasn't prepared to give me the £50 voucher offer.

Tesco Broadband sent a BT engineer out and the line is fine in fact it's good speed. He said it was probably the Modem. when I rang Tesco they said it was my fault for turning the Modem off at night it should be on all the time. So still a intermittent problem sometimes it's ok sometimes not. Someone mentioned it's because they're going to Talk Talk and they're not bothered!!

So I have decided to bite the bullet and go with SKY!!

You could have got £73.50 cashback and a £50 M&S voucher here

You will never get the best deal by ringing them, always apply online ans get the commision for yourself.

Being a EE mobile customer and Sky bb customer. I'd say Sky customer service is awesome even through live chat. Sky usually have some great offers as above on TopCashBack/Quidco and they do pay out.

Not used EE broadband but Sky was fine, not a single issue. The hub isn't that bad compared to others as well.
