That sounds even better value than mine was!

I was very impressed with my joint of brisket, although DS wasn't impressed at me cooking it in the slow cooker with the veggies as he's decided he's "gone off" beef stew type meals as he calls them

It was very succulent and tasty though, but in hind sight I should have cooked it the day before and sliced it cold, as it just fell apart trying to carve it warm, so didn't turn out very economical as we ate big chunks of it

It all looks in the peak of condition too. I've munched an apple already :)

Which reminds me... I've gotta go see if the co-op has any more of that pork that I mentioned in the Coffee Shop

Squeaky , Great minds think alike! I received my first organic fruit and veg box yesterday. I found the suppliers using information posted on MSE. Anyway I'm very pleased with my find. I ordered a small veg box at £6.90 and a small fruit box at £6.50. Contains around 6lbs of veg and 5lbs of fruit. Spent last night cooking and filling up freezer. Am feeling very self rightous today!
However, one problem - Vegatables incuded a kolrabi. Never had it before, no idea what to make. Anyone out there got any vegetarian kolrabi recipes?

kholrabi, looks like a turnip, but tastes similar to marrow for some reason

i just tend to cut into chunks and roast

the only recipe i have found that uses kohl rabi is kohl mornay - basically cauliflower cheese, but obviously with kohl instead of cauli

not a very exotic veg, all in all lol

Yep. treat it much the same as turnip.

Re Kohl Rabi, my father in law peels it and eats it like an apple, with cheese. It's not bad in coleslaw and other salads, either.

Have just found out that kohlrabi can be used, peeled and cubed in a stir fry! So that is what I'm going to do with the one I got in my box yesterday.

 Just wondering about the spelling of 'kohlrabi' and is it one word or two? Between us we've managed four spellings in five posts. Does anyone know which is correct?
