    Hi

I saw somewhere here a list of organic box schemes in the UK but can no longer find it.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?

    Thank you
There are lots of organic outlets listed at www.bigbarn.co.uk

I have seen them before - strawberries and bell peppers always seem to come high up. The following link has a list, but more importantly it also has a list of links at the bottom too, so you should be able to find a reliable list. :)

Having just read the articles through this link I think I will have to step up my efforts to only buy organic. Scary to think what I have been eating all these years and what I am feeding our children. I always thought raspberries were good for you.

Thanks - will have a look at them - I think I saw a £5 off your first order voucher in the tourist information centre. We are going to try http://www.neog.care4free.net/ first though.

Hi all, I ordered a large fruit and veg mixed box from able and cole at £21.90 for the first time about 5 weeks ago and have had 4 weekly deliveries since. When the first one came it looked lovely and very full, but after 4 weeks of getting the same stuff each week I cancelled and i swear that the box looked less full each week and the stuff was cleaner, the carrots were soil free and to be honest none of it tasted better. I now go to the local farm shop and buy it all, but i would like to start another scheme to see how that is. Has anyone else on here had deliveries from able and cole and what did you think, because i dont want to be unfair to them, maybe its just me.

Well, I've bit the bullet and just phoned through an order to a local organic suppliers which will be delivered tomorrow free of charge! :j

I've opted for a 5kg sack of spuds, small veg box, small fruit box, a 1kg brisket joint and a dozen free range eggs, which all comes to around £25. I'll report back tomorrow on the contents, as I've forgotten everything she said to me now, but it certainly sounds good value for money and I'm getting some locally grown rhubarb in the fruit box too :D

    I've been Money Tipped!
I have just changed my box from a £14 fortnightly box to a £9.50 weekly box plus 1/2 dozen organic eggs from Fair Organics and am very pleased with it. True instead of paying £28 a month plus buying eggs @89p from supermarket, I am now paying £38 plus £1.40 a week for the eggs but I am now not running out of things and having to go near supermarket (would have spent another £20 on fruit and veg there or at farmshop on fruit and veg over the month) and all the produce is very fresh.

Fair organics also sell wine and groceries but it does cost a awful lot.
I am thinking of putting in an order for some meat soon. I can buy organic flour/grain from a local mill so just need an organic supplier of dairy foods now!

I said earlier in this thread that I'd ordered a box from savethebacon.com, but they emailed me and said they weren't sending out boxes this week (not a good start!). So, I ordered from Abel and Cole, the £21.90 box too (though this includes the delivery charge, I believe), and that arrived this morning. It's only my first one, but so far I'm really happy with what I've tried. I was planning to get this big box once a fortnight and top up in between, so I'll see how it goes. I got:

    2 Avocados
    2 Aubergines
    4 Oranges
    6 Kiwi Fruit
    3 Anjou Pears
    Bunch Bananas (6-7 small ones)
    5 Carrots
    Chestnut Mushrooms (approx. 200g)
    Tub Mixed Bean Sprouts
    Potatoes (1.5kg at a guess?)
    Green Lettuce (enormous!)
    Kohl Rabi
    Fennel Bulb
    Cucumber
