  • Do NOT use contact cleaner of a MAF, it contains lubricants that can contaminate it. Isopropyl Alcohol will clean it properly, available from a chemist or, more expensively, from Halfords where it is labelled 'MAF cleaner' :)

Actually, contact cleaner is just the thing but it must be the sort that's labelled "No Residue".

Be careful those wires are delicate, A string jet of cleaner can actually
    damage them.

You can try posting a picture but the MAF may be hidden under a plastic engine cover.

Yes it seems to have frightened off the OP.

    lol
that long and complicated video has drained the enthusiasm and boldness from me.
one the members sent a PM saying it is carbon cleaning that i need to do.
    Any ideas?
  • Carbon cleaning can help, as long as the problem is caused by carbon build up. If it's a dirty maf it will be of little help.

    Hi
How come the airfilter shown in the video is cylindrical in shape?
I always thought it is a rectangular shaped sponge like thingy!!!
  • Took it to a indie garage who seems to think that clutch is failing and needs replacing with or without some DMF thingy.
They are quoting £350 just for clutch replacement but another 400 if that DMF needs to be changed as well

What is your running coolant temperature? You can access the hidden menus on the E9* cars.

If its not 90ish after 5 minutes then your EGR and main thermostate will need changing.

I'm not convinced you know what an EGR valve is let alone the role it plays.
