Selling a Smart TV with Broken Screen

Hi,
I've been offered money for my broken TV that I was going to throw in the bin, but as the screen is broken, I can't go back on and log out of the apps that I had been using.
Is there a way to do this through another means remotely?
Thanks

Ah ok, I see where you're going with this - connect the video display to another tv and do it that way. Sounds good, i'll give it a try tonight0

not really familiar with smart tvs but why would you need to log out?0

It's logged into my amazon account amongst other things and I don't want the person (I don't really know them) being able to start buying stuff to watch. I don't want to go to the hassle of having to cancel cards either.glentoran99 wrote: »not really familiar with smart tvs but why would you need to log out?0 -
Would be a first for me! TVs very rarely if ever have outputs, other than audio. OP could be logged into iPlayer for example and be found out as a Peppa Pig addict or something! I wouldn't imagine passwords could be extracted or anything. Money for a broken TV? Take it!Is there a Video out function or socket on the back of the tv or rf out?0 -
If you are genuinely worried, the easiest thing to do is just change your passwords. The TV won't stay logged in once the internet connection and electricity supply are removed. It's logged into my amazon account amongst other things
You are indeed lucky that someone wants to buy a TV with a broken screen.0 -
Yes, I suppose that's an easier option! £25 to take it off my hands and saves me a trip to the dump!Moneyineptitude wrote: »If you are genuinely worried, the easiest thing to do is just change your passwords. Maybe they buy broken TV's hoping its users have not logged out of apps etc?
Maybe they have something that can access the memory? Backup the router ID and password and login details to streaming services and emails?
Maybe they want it for parts, the power board maybe useful once the TVs a year or so old, even what we consider decent brands fit cheapy Capxon branded capacitors that fail too soon.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
As already noted above, unplugging the TV from the mains and the internet will automatically log out the user. Any apps would then require the user's password.forgotmyname wrote: »Maybe they buy broken TV's hoping its users have not logged out of apps etc?
Regardless, the thread was seemingly concluded a week ago.0 -
Perhaps they are like the people who used to grab any broken laptops from Freecycle, convinced that they could mend them by taking the broken part from any other machine.0
