TSB Current Account

  • Secondly, given the employment and income questions they ask, am I likely to have issues when it comes to getting my wife to open an account given she is a housewife with no actual income of her own?

I'm not a expert but I would say this depends on you answer to the question relating to the use of the account. If you were to answer it, 'Savings' or 'Bills/expenses' more so savings I cant see her getting refusal.

Also on the income and outcome sections, if she is shown outcome and financial dependants that would probably have a negative effect as she would have no income.

Likely to have a effect on overdraft offer too.

As you have a Nationwide Flex account, had you considered the new Flex monthly saver?

The problem you'll have with TSB (if your fraud issues are computer related) is that TSB basically use a rebranded version of Halifax internet banking.

Have you checked your phone number registered on internet banking?

Yes, both mobile and home numbers are correct. Didn't know TSB used the same(ish) system as Halifax.

Haven't really been using our Nationwide account for quite a while so we would have to put £750 through it for 3 months before we would be eligible. Might consider it though.

On the first screen of the application there is a drop down for joint or sole account.
Just went back to the applications page and it says

"If you would like to open a joint account, please pop into one of our branches."

So I guess they've changed their website. Bit annoying as my wife is currently housebound following a major operation and won't be able to get to the branch for a few months.

Yes, I remeber that now! sorry for duff info.

Just applied for me and the Mrs last night :)
  • YB ...May I ask how you have 4 Reward accounts ? Thought only allowed one sole and one joint ?

There was a time when it was possible to apply for more than you can now.
  • Hi All,

I'm looking into setting up a 'savings loop' so I've started by opening one of the TSB accounts and putting 2k in there. I've set up a SO from my main account on the day I get paid to put £500 in the TSB account. I'm then going to move £400 back to my main account, and leave £100 per month to use on contactless payments. I was wondering, how long does the money need to stay in the TSB?
If I set the SO on my main account to happen on the 18th, could I set the SO on the TSB to be on the 19th, or does it need a few days in the account?

    Thanks
    James
