TSB Current Account

Hi

I currently ahve a Barclays account attached to my offset mortgage (1.25%) which I use as my main acount and will continue to do so. I have a Santander account which has the full £20k in, I have a Halifax account that has a couple of DDs coming out of it (credit card payments) and a Nationwide Flex account which is historical and not used very much at all.

I have had more security issues with my Halifax account than I am comfortable with so I will be transferring that one - probably to M&S for their current account deal and their regular savers account, but I was also looking at opening a TSB account as I believe, from what I have read, that you don't need any DDs going out of it to still claim the interest and be able to use the attached regular saver account. My main question is - can I have a TSB account and my wife have a separate one or are you only allowed one per household?

Thanks

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when you read the (one page) TSB Plus account T&Cs.
  • Both have a TSB and then get a joint TSB for 5% on £6k in total.

Keep the Halifax, SO 750 into it, then move that 750 into another account so you can keep claiming your free £5

Thanks for the info but, as I stated earlier, the Halifax is going as the security issues have been scary and its not worth the £60 to me for the hastle, I'd rather switch the account to someone paying a switch incentive.

May I ask what the "security issues" are/were? I have 4 Reward accounts and have never experienced any such issues.

Certainly. Twice I have had my account hacked and the address changed followed by a request for a new card to be sent to the new addresses. Police weren't interested even though they could get the addresses of the fraudsters. My login details weren't changed, nobody else (including my wife) had been given my login details and they were unique. My computer passed the many security scans I ran on it. Halifax couldn't explain it and for it to have happened twice is a real concern as, following the first incident, I had the telephone banking service disabled on my account so that it should have required a visit to my branch to confirm a change of address - yet it happened again.
  • How often do you update your antivirus software?

Whenever it tells me there are updates.

Never had an issue with Barclays, Santander or Nationwide - all of whom I use internet banking with *touches wood*

OK, so I've just opened myself a sole account with TSB and I've got a couple more questions that I would be grateful if someone could answer.

I didn't seem to get the option for a joint account - did I miss it or do you have to apply for that differently?

Secondly, given the employment and income questions they ask, am I likely to have issues when it comes to getting my wife to open an account given she is a housewife with no actual income of her own?

    Cheers

On the first screen of the application there is a drop down for joint or sole account.

Damn, missed that. Thanks - sometimes I think my eyes are just painted on!
