Orange query

Am about 12 months in to an 18 month contract with Orange with Samsung E900, and I now hate the phone - any idea as to whether they will allow me to upgrade? I'm a premier service member......

Phoned them - apparently am 11 months in, and if I want an upgrade will cost me £50 however, if I call back in a months time, can get a free upgrade.

  • Beware that you are not automatically entitled to a free upgrade next month. The u/g fee tends to go down, but this is not guaranteed - it depends on the system that calculates it.

i think Orange have started to introduce £25u/g fees, so this may be the next level down for you.

(bare in mind also u/g fee is ex. VAT)

I imagine that being in month 11 of an 18month contract, your handset price (this is separate to u/g fee) will likely be £0.00 for most of the handsets they stock.

Also bare in mind that u/g will tie you into a new 18month tariff, and being in month 11 of 18 you will not be eligible for a retentions offer.

So all in all, if you're just interested in a new handset to u/g to, call back a couple of days after your next bill date (this is when you'll be in month 12) and you'll be able to see what your u/g fee is.
