Having made the mistake of buying a pram the size and weight of a small tank with 1st baby, IF (big, big IF) there's a no. 2, the same mistake will not be repeated. Our current pushchair can be carried as hand luggage on an airplane and will baby no.2's mode of transport IF s/he should appear
Boot space is a consideration though and the Yeti boot space is disproportionately small on first inspection. Not tiny but not particularly generous either. The Qashqai's boot was better by comparison.

The DPF will still eventually clog up anyway but will do so later on - with your lower mileage it could come a lot sooner.
I'd be looking at petrol personally in your situation. The sales people recommending petrol are sensible - plus generally petrol cars are cheaper to buy, although that is changing now as people become more aware of the long term issues low mileage diesels can have.
We have a Sportage diesel and only do 10k a year. I don't expect the DPF to give any trouble at all. It isn't the annual milage that determines whether or not a DPF will clog, it's the type of journeys that are undertaken. Lots of short trips are a killer, otherwise there shouldn't be any problem.0 -

I think the type of driving we do might not be suited to a diesel because of the DPF issue. Our daily journey to work is about 10 miles in speed limits of between 40-60mph (depending on traffic) and then 3 miles of city driving.0 -
petrol heat up a lot quicker so for short trips in the winter that could be another bonus.0

+1 for petrol CRV. massive boot space (particuarly in the older shape models). Loads of space for passengers in the back. Fits two cars seats and another passenger in the middle row comfortably. And reliable
If i didnt need a 7 seater it would be my first choiceEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.0 -
As far as I know, the 2.0 petrol CRV is 2WD so this could be back in your shopping list?!
Yes they are 2wd. have driven one, with kids pushchair ,shopping etc. Swallows it all up. Very comfortable and reliableEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.0 -
One that hasn't been mentioned, a Jeep Renegade, I think the 1.4 petrol version is quite popular, they are 2wd apart from one of them.0

Crikey, how the mighty have fallen.
Last time I saw a Jeep Renegade, it was a CJ7 and had an eagle on the bonnet.
When I typed Jeep Renegade into google the screen was covered in Tonka toy "faux 4x4s" like everyone else makes
I've updated my sig. too to reflect how behind the times I have become;).I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Thanks all for your comments and info. I'm taking it all on board.
However, a new option has entered the mix...the Fiat 500X.
I admit that I am a huge fan of the 500 and am completely smitten by its looks and have no idea of its practicality and I'd buy it tomorrow if left to my own devices. Luckily my OH is more practical and will insist on a test drive and proper comparison with other contenders before we decide. The spoilsport :rotfl:0
