Triple glazing quote

Hi all,
I am looking to get new windows in my house. I had a guy from the advanced group in who gave us a quote for 10 triple glazed windows and triple glazed French doors at £7,500.
We told him we would think about it as we have other companies coming out in the next two days and he's suggested we go to the showroom to view their stock and he'll work on the price.
So you guys think this is a good quote? I'm hoping to knock it down a bit if I do go to the showroom!

Depends on the size of the windows really doesn't it?
Your best bet is to get a number of comparable quotes.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Having the measurements would help but I haven't taken them. I was hoping for a rougher yes or no.
I have CR Smith coming out tonight so will see what they say.
I would say I have 1x Large window, 3x small windows and 6x medium sized windows.
I know that’s not measurements but that’s all I've got for the moment until I measure them :-(0 -
Good price? - I'd say nope. Based on the fact he's already said he will work with you on the price.
If I were you, I'd look at getting in a small firm in (someone from the yellow pages etc.) and get them to price it for you too.
These bigger places seem to just make it up as they go.0 -
Kind of depends I've found. Glazing local guy came out with a quote a 3rd of what one of the big companies charged. However just got quotes from 3 locals and Anglian for a window and french doors. The local guys came out way more expensive... and with pretty limited options. I am replacing windows because I want to get rid of the ugly white PVC and 2 of the locals didn't really have any options besides white pvc or fake wood colour.
I am paying 2700 for 1 120x120 aluminum window and aluminum french doors in anthracite grey. To be honest the guy from Anglian didn'r really hard sell, wasn't longer in the house as the locals. One of the locals quoted 3200 for the french doors alone..
So in my opinion your quote isn't bad, but try and get it down as much as possible I guessDebt free as per 22/12/16 -0 -
I have CR Smith coming tonight and a local guy I got via mybuilder on Saturday.
I will see what they quote and have a think.
Thanks for your advice/thoughts0 -
CR Smith quoted between £11k-13k for all double glazing and patio doors as apparently French doors would be against regulations as I don't have a decking to step out to just some stairs.
They also weren't fond of triple glazing saying it's not really proven and that a sort of mist in between the panes often occurs along with cracks in the middle pane.0 -
interesting that a salesman "isn't fond" of a product they don't supply!!
Buying good triple glazed windows isn't an issue no matter what CR Smith tell you...This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Glazing get dozens of quotes play them against each other, Never sign for it straight away? Buy a cheap through away sim card and email address you’ll be pestered for years with calls, emails etc if you don’t double as very general rule £300 + triple £400- 500 per window0

Had a guy from vantage windows out there. He's taken the measurements and the designs we want and will email me the quote.
He was ripping into advanced group a bit saying the use recycled pvc which is likely to discolour and sub contractors.
Do any of you know if this is true?
Advanced group say they use 100% Virgin pvc skin, I couldn't find any information on them. Do you know if this would stop discolouration?
Again thanks for any advice0 -
