I was robbed! Tesco £3 Meal Deal in Fake Price Shocker...

Ok bit of an exaggeration! Tesco offer their £3 meal deal at Tesco Express for the usual sandwich, crisps and drink which is generally good value I believe...

I dutifully chose a sandwich (wrap actually) that happened to be marked as reduced from £2.35 to £1.18...

That's right people it was 50% off... :rotfl:

Imagine my joy as I skipped to the self-service checkout... imagining that my £3 meal deal would now be just £1.83... finally I felt I had achieved a sense of economic victory and give one in the eye to the cost of living... etc. :j

Anyway, self-service checkout said 'NO' and made me pay the full £3...

I was robbed by a faceless computer who then had the cheek to up-sell me a carrier bag for 5p...

I paid £3.05 an am no longer feeling very joyful or victorious... I did however really enjoy my sandwich... to be fair though I probably scanned the wrong barcode so perhaps simply a lesson to share... :)

  • Reduced items are normally excluded from meal deal offers.

The reduced barcode was probably not quite covering the original barcode completely, and it scanned the original price instead

Perhaps you could PM the board guide and ask them to move this to the Vents board? It's not a Grabbit ...

I would agree with Nectar that you should have been charged the price of the individual items. If this was less than £3 drop them a message, I'm sure they'll refund the difference.
  • The meal wouldn't be reduced because the sandwich was reduced

The cost of the drink and snack probably came to more than £1.82 so it just took off the right amount for you to be charged the £3 meal deal price :) Good luck with your future bargain hunts :rotfl:

They missed one last year : You could buy two bunches of gladioli , each reduced to 30p, using the BOGOF offer, so 30p in total. (I love a real bargain).

It's really annoying when you see something reduced but the reduction is less that the BOGOFF saving - unless you only want one, of course.
