Holiday Lettings is a host site for private holiday cottage owners. You can't say the whole site is at fault. Fault lies with the owner. Why did you look at the TripAdvisor price and assume it was correct? If that's not what was quoted via Holiday Lettings or the owner direct why would you pay it?
That's like going into a restaurant, not looking a the prices on the menu, ordering, eating and then moaning about the price.[/QUOTE]
I am just stating my experience of using Holiday Lettings and warning others to beware. Do you have a problem with that? Are you a holiday cottage owner?0 -

No, I'm a holiday cottage client. I meant that the site can't be held responsible for the actions of an owner.0 -

It increased by 100 pounds plus which was a letting fee and another 100 pounds for a deposit which was held by the owner for over a month before returning it to me.
The reviews on trip advisor for self catering are all vetted by the owner first hence only positive 5 star reviews get published.
Look elsewhere.
Actually blame Holiday Lettings! They add their commission on to the prices set by the owner. Nothing we can do about it I'm afraid unfortunately. If you ask for a quote then you get a true cost to you. In addition the owner also pays commission to Holiday Lettings.
( of course nothing to stop you choosing a cottage on the site and then seeing if you can find it listed elsewhere with lower or no charges if you find the owners own website!)0 -
OH's and I went to Padstow for a week as our first holiday back when neither of us drove. We got the train to Bodmin parkway and then a Taxi to our cottage (taxi was about £30) We walked to the Tesco for essentials which wasn't too bad about 15 minutes from where we were staying, but there was also a bus I believe. But there is also a local mini supermarket.
The were loads of pubs and restaurants in the village and the ones we went to were really good.
We mainly went crabbing on the harbour during the days because it was cold during our stay but we did visit a beach which was about a 20 minute walk away.
I would recommend it was do-able with out a car0
