The New Minimum Wage 2016 ?

  • And also if you don't raise wages, you're actually cutting them in real terms, if a business has to make real terms cuts in basic pay to survive they must be weak/inefficient

Indeed. An efficient practice must have room for manouevre in wages. Any one practice that doesn't is a danger to users. Good morale is the cornerstone of a good care team. Cutting wages or hours against will, even though legitimate for the failing provider, is one sure way to demotivate staff and drive down standards. After all, why work harder to look after your brood if the reciprocal respect isn't there?

Even though you're very rude, i'll still reply :D

I'm not very clever and struggled to get average GCSE results, and so getting a degree etc was never on the cards. I've always done warehouse work
Not everyone is capable of earning megabucks.
So it's minimum wage or a life on benefits. I chose work (possibly stupidly!!)

If you're happy you're happy and that should be it but if you want to train yourself up or go in a different direction then go for it and don't put yourself down.

Don't feel you have to be stuck in one position due to what happened at school or in the past.

There are some people on here that believe you still need a degree to be a cleaner. How stupid is that?

No, not everyone is capable of high income or indeed aspire to it. Some like to study some don't. I'm in degree penury too but do I regret it? No. If you are happy with your "lot" then ignore that asinine remark.

And also if you'd have to travel a long way for better work it becomes debatable whether to bother, esp if you want to spend time with family

I think spending that decade trying to better your qualifications and therefore prospects would have been a good use of those years , rather than waiting for a pittance to be announced
    What arrogance
Maybe he/she has been trying. Trying doesn't always lead to success.
Some people aren't capable of much more than minimum wage work.

I think some people have just had their confidence knocked through bad experiences and wouldn't know how to progress, or feel they couldn't be what they'd need to be, and finances can halt adult training. Poor careers advice can be disastrous too
