Morning all!
Having a bit of a financial nightmare just now!
Clutch on car has now gone
Building work is progressing but still no cheque from insurance so I've had to practically empty savings account and current accounts. I'm hoping I'll get it back but the insurance company have been very very slow
On the bright side my lounge is looking lovely
This all means that I actually have no idea how I'm doing this month!! Out of control - been here before and it's a very dangerous money place to be, I think. Again, on a positive note, I've no credit cards or overdraft facility so when it runs out it runs out ..... Fingers crossed that the cheque from the insurance will arrive before that happens! This will be the (second) year:beer: Target £20K:eek:0 -
Hi Nicola,
Just had a read through your diary - good luck! You done great with the money before, so I'm sure will be just as good this time
My clutch went end of last year, I had 2 quotes, first being £590 and luckily I decided to get another as it was £270 I ended up paying. Normally I just go with the first price I am given, which is stupid I know, and the only reason I looked elsewhere was because the man I spoke to was a *********** and I refused to give him my money!
My spending has been out of control again, I've not long started this debt busting but the past few weeks I've been handing over credit cards again and refusing to look at the balance, nothing major but they all add up.
I'll subscribe and cheer you on :T xxStarting debt £18,675.63

Thanks reality check..... I thought I had replied to you ages ago but see I haven't .... Must have dreamed it!!

Morning all.
It's a beautiful day here. Sunny and springlike. Love it.
I still feel like I haven't yet regained (financial and home) control this month. Still in the thick of it with building works and overall mess. Have mislaid laptop so spreadsheets haven't been updated and any money we had has been moved around to pay tradesmen. It's messy!
The cheque has arrived from the insurance company though so I'll be able to work it out soon, I think.
Husband's share save has matured so I've added £3600 to my savings pot. I haven't sold the shares though because the dividends are a better rate than any savings account just now so I'll keep the money as shares until we're ready to make F +F offers to creditors. Happy days.
I'm sure I've saved more but until I move the money back and sort the spreadsheets, I just won't know.
Hmm - worrying pattern of not staying on top of it emerging .......
Will update again soon. Have a great day xxThis will be the (second) year:beer: Target £20K:eek:0 -
Hey lovely,
It's so easy to roll with the 'head in sand' option but we both know that's what got us to where we are now, which at best is unsettling at worse constantly worrying 24 7 about how we get ourselves out of this!!
Good news about the share save (mine doesn't mature for another 2 years - boo!! but did well on the last one so at least will have a few pounds in 2018!!)
Go look for that laptop hunny, you've done so well don't let life get in the way of sorting the debt!!!

Hello!!
Yes. I did.
I updated the spreadsheets and it wasn't too bad - £10 down on last month. Obviously not great - esp since I need to be up on every month if I want to meet the very ambitious target I have set. But it could've been a lot worse.
Easter has been pretty dear - I hadn't really budgeted for it. Also hadn't budgeted for new shoe requirement for lovely children but don't suppose I can stop them growing..... My older son has grown at least 10 cm since Christmas. He's only 12 but is now taller than me!!
I feel like it's in hand though. Spreadsheets will be done again on the first to confirm. This will be the (second) year:beer: Target £20K:eek:0 -
Happy new year!
It's been a while but here we are in January, thinking about finances again.
Last time I posted was last March. A few good things have happened since then. I achieved my target of £25K, I got a new job and we finished up the house following the flood from an upstairs tap.
I didn't pay off the creditors though but given that charges and interest were stopped way back in 2011, I don't feel that is a bad idea.
This year, I'm aiming to save £20K. Bring it on!
All best wishes,
NicolaThis will be the (second) year:beer: Target £20K:eek:0
