I agree totally with this, we have done the same in the past.

I was about to post this, it would be rare to be able to invite a whole class either through size of venue (especially at home) and/or costs.

I am more annoyed by people not letting you know there child isn't coming. DD2's last party (her 8th) we invited 15 and only 9 came. Now 3 said they couldn't come, but the others didn't say (and her bd was just after half term so I couldn't even grab people on the playground).
Had they let us know as asked to b4 half term we could have done a few extra invites. Sadly one boy DD2 is really good friends with said he could come but his mum decided not to bring him after all, he was really upset at school as he said it was the first party he was ever going to be allowed to and then they changed their minds.

On a simular subject DD1 (12) was invited in Nov to her friends party. We were a bit annoyed it was almost 1 hr away in Manchester in a trampoline park, but OH said he was prepared to drive it as it was on a sat.

The week b4 the girl slipped and broke a bone in her foot so whole thing cancelled to be "rearranged later".

DD came to us at 4pm to say her friend had rearranged the party for tonight at 5.50pm and could she go. No way we said. Firstly OH didn't fancy the drive at this time of night because of the traffic and he was tired anyway. Plus after christmas there isn't much petrol in the car so extra cost we can do without at this time of the month.

Sadly sound like most of the other girls couldn't go either from the text messages DD has had.

So don't book childrens/teen parties miles away from where ev1 lives unless you are providing transport.

  • Totally not a big deal.

Being missed by a close friend is hurtful, but can happen since friendships are not always 'even'. And at 5, friendships are often fluid.

Why do people get offended by things like this? Downside of blessed lives I suppose.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thought it wasn't a big deal. I'm just grateful if mine get an invitation.
