Printer for high use family?

Why laser? Why not inkjet? They are very good these days.
My printer is a HP and I use the Instant Ink service. It's worth looking at and they have a price plan that would fit your 3,000 page a year need.

I agree - but DON'T use HP ink - use compatibles.
also - when printing black - turn colour off, using the driver utility !0 -

some of the new CIS style printers that have ink refill reservoirs are actually decently priced. Compatible inks mimic genuine inks but they may not have 100% precise, for instance genuine inks may have other additives to declog ink heads and remain mixed. Compatible inks may have their dyes and liquid seperate aftyer a long period of time which means the solid matter clogs the heads.
This is just a guess btw. But I have bought enough fake stuff to know how far te fakers will go to beat the cost price down. Especially how they will cut corners in places where the consumer can't see the difference so obviously. Such as the consistency of the ink after it settles in the printer for 3 months
Before when a full set of OEM costs £50, and the printer itself costs £80. There is a genuine case for compatible. but now oem inks are a l;ot cheaper.
The ecotank printers are much more sensibly priced. Te printers are a lot more expensive and the refills cost £10 a bottle, but there's 70ml of it, compared to 5ml in a conventional cartridge that costs 1.5-2x more.0 -

HP Instank Ink takes away all the worries about running out of ink or shopping for ink.
i have been using it for at least 6 months now and would recommend it to anyone for normal home printing at the current costs."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
Does it need to be a colour laser?
What about a cheap tacky £70 B&W brother where the cartridge costs a tenner on ebay and a cheap tacky £50 epson wireless that'll do all your phone tablet stuff and you can get the compatibles for a tenner a set from 7dayshop.
Share the two printers to your home network and everybody can choose what to print to.0
