Our laser printer has bitten the dust & I need to replace it urgently, so something I can get delivered next day or pick up on the high street needed. We print around 2-3,000 pages/year on average so replacement ink cost is a bigger factor than upfront cost. It needs to do colour, wifi & able to print from ipad & windows laptops.
HELP?!

repair or replace the faulty partDon't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0

The current model from the same manufacturer would be my 1st choice, as all the installed printer drivers should still be OK.0

repair it?
Unfortunately with printers it's rarely worth it.
I am a repair person first but as printers are heavily subsidized by the manufacturer the manufacturing cost being recovered through higher charges for toner then repairs become uneconomical very easily and it's cheaper just buying another one.
Why colour?
I did have an inkjet that was colour. In the whole time I owned it I printed maybe 10 photo's. I worked out it was cheaper to send photo's to Boots and pay 25 pence per photo than pay for huge amounts of ink. The printer still works perfectly it's just uneconomical to run for the odd splash of colour on a page.
I have just purchased a mono multi function laser for £75 which does 3,000 pages with the starter cartridge (2.5p/page) which will probably take me 5 years to get through and replacement cartridges are £100 for 10,000 pages (1p/page).:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

We had the previous printer for 8 years (Samsung CLX3175) & its no longer available. We've proved over that time that we do print enough colour pages to warrant paying the extra for a colour printer.0

Look at the "free" Dells from ijtdirect.co.uk0

I use an HP Laserjet CP1025nw as my home office printer and print about 100 colour pages a day on it.
Found it to be very reliable, and the ink seems to go a long way.
Think its wireless although I have never used that facility.
Think it costs about £100-£150 and no idea of the ink costs but presume not cheap. Not sure if there are alternative suppliers for in but presume there must be.0 -
Have a look at the HP Envy printers which work well with smartphones, tablets etc.
I signed up to their instant ink program where I pay 1.99 per month and get 50 pages printed, there are other plans available so take a look and see whether they are worth it for you.
They keep an eye on your ink levels via wifi and send out a new cartridge via UPS when you are running low. I did the trial on it when they launched in the UK, I was that impressed I carried on with the service.

Yes you got that one right. Once they have discovered the cost of the repair and look at new prices they will, no doubt, agree too.
Consider the cost of the repair plus the cost of the next set of replacement cartridges and you are better off buying a new one, which will have a warranty, now.0 -
i have a 5 year old printer that I got free from freecycle.
Trust me it's better to just buy a brand new one in the £250 mark.
On this "free printer" I have spent £110 on a drum unit, £100 on a belt transfer unit to get it working correctly. Still does not print right. Has intermittent issues the rollers are worn down that sometimes it fails to pick up the paper causing false paper jams. Duplex print mode produces lots toner marks on the paper.
If the printer has had it. Just discard and buy a new one.0
