  • Afternoon all.

Just having a quick cuppa and a catch up.

House is looking a million times more tidy, just have the kids living room to do, thinking about decorating that room as there is just one wall that needs painting and it is looking a bit grubby from finger marks, will have a look and see if I have enough paint left from doing the kitchen which is a lovely duck egg colour, if not it will have to be magnolia as I know I have plenty of that.

£bay sale in and bumped hols pot, been having discussions with Dh about hols and maybe postponing until next year and going on our dream holiday before the kids get too old and before GCS£s kick in, but that's a post for another time.
  • Big thankyou to the person that signed up to y0ugov a few days ago through my link, I have just checked my account and had enough points to redeem £50 :D.

  • I Have just managed to loose a massive post .

So in the words of my children PLOT TWIST.

we have decided to not go on a summer holiday this year, after sitting and talking together as a family we have decided what we all really want is to go back to the USA, so after much discussion, talking about how we will have to pull together, only spending on needs and not wants and me making it perfectly clear that until I have the money saved that the holiday will not be booked we have decided that is what we are going to do. I have told the children that they have to save a proportion of their allowance/birthday/Christmas money for spends over there and I have given them both a target of £250 to hit.

Really it is only me and DH missing out on a holiday this summer as both children are off on school trips (one abroad) and both children are going camping for a week in the summer hols with grandparents in their camper van.

    So let the challenge begin....................
  • Up early this morning, I have had a really bad neck the last few days and just can't seem to get comfortable.

Made another few pounds on £bay and had a £5 payment from p1necone, so the £775 target for this month has been hit, but as you can see by my sig still have a way to go to hit the main target.

Trying to do as much as possible to save pennies and be frugal, ran out of cakes/ biscuits for pack ups, I got DD to make up a batch of refrigerator cookie dough last night, we had all the ingredients except for choc chips, so I was kind and gave up my secret stash bar of green and black chocolate, so that was bashed up an added, only used half the dough, other half is wrapped up in the fridge, that way they won't all get eaten at once and should last the week.

Had a busy evening last night went to post office on the way home from work to send a 3bay parcel and collect a parcel that couldn't be delivered, this was some dishwasher tabs to test, went home made tea, very frugal scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast,Mealplan and mr m order done to come on sat afternoon.
checked online banking etc, chased up a missing payment to H&M, had bought DS some shorts/tshirts a few weeks ago and although the payment for hem had left my account, the money hadn't gone off my h&m account and they hit me with an £8 charge, payment found their mess up and £8 charge removed.
Filled out some school forms for DS, applied for Europe heath card for DD (frgot what they are called).
Received a voucher for a spa treatment for my birthday, so booked that for half term week.

Think that was it for yesterday, hope this evening will be a bit more leisurely. although I do have a pile of ironing that needs doing.

Hope everyone is ok, take care.x.

How amazing that you hit your target for the month. Pleased that you are saving up towards your dream holiday. It's nice to have something to look forward to, plus getting the children on board.

What is your plan for May?
  • Morning all.

Debtfree2012- yes your right they don't go together.

Chanie - thankyou, not sure about may target, need to get back to you on that one.

3bay sale of £8.50 yesterday, chucked at hols pot.

    Will update properly tonight.x.
  • Quick update before I Go and finish tea.

Still trying to be as frugal as possible and really thinking about what we spend as a family.
Small grocery spend of £3 on milk and sandwich meat.
Sold some eggs to neighbour, £1 into change pot.
Transferred £44 from current account into hols pot, payday tomorrow so that was what was left over this month.
Used last of bread this morning for kids sandwiches and had forgetten to take more out of freezer, so I took cheese and crackers for lunch today.
Small lamb joint roasting for tonights tea, having it with rst spuds and veg.

Still thinking about may challenge, it's going to be a tough month as DH needs new car tyres and we have 2 family birthdays, but as always we will slug through and save as much as possible, think I'm going to aim to hit £1000.
