Financial Disassociation

Hi there,

I hope someone can help me...
The house I owed with my ex boyfriend has recently been sold 04/12/15. I finally got him removed from my bank account last year also. Do I have to apply for financial disassociation on my credit file or will this be updated automatically eventually? I've read I have to apply to 3 credit agencies, one being equifax but who are the other two please?
I have previously had a free trial with equifax (to check the accuracy of my report years ago). Can I have another free trial or will I have to pay?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes you need to contact all 3 credit reference agencies and file a notice of disassociation.

The 3 agencies are Experian, Equifax and Call Credit.

If you've had a free trial I don't think they let you have another one again, but you could try. It should only cost you £2 per report anyway.

Call Credit offer free reports with Noddle. Equifax offer free reports with Clear Score.

    Hi Tracey2812,

You would need to fill out a disassociation form otherwise your ex boyfriend will stay on your report indefinitely as a financial connection.

You don't need to obtain a copy of your Experian credit report to disassociate all you need to do is fill out the online form located here: https://www.experian.com/uk/online-dissassociation-form.html

Please ensure you type in 00000000 in the reference number and try to fill out as much detail as possible.

In regards to Equifax and Call Credit I am unsure if you would need to obtain a report from them first, however they will be able to advise you if you contact them directly. There contact details:
    Equifax: 08456033000
    Call Credit: 08453660071

    Hope this helps.
    Many Thanks

Experian company representative - are there any plans in the pipeline for Experian to join both Equifax and Call Credit in offering free credit reports for life?

  • Thank you both for your quick reply. I didn't think I needed another credit report but was thinking I might check again in a few months to ensure everything was correct after the disassociation.

    Thank you so much again.

This, of course, is another failing of the credit reporting system.
