Return Christmas gift with out receipt

Hi,
I bought my daughter a bracelet for Christmas, I paid for it with my credit card.
The bracelet is to small for her and we have lost the receipt.
The shop have said we can exchange only, even tho they can confirm via there computer system that we bought it from that shop on the date we say.
Do we have any right to ask for the money back for we can buy a different bracelet from a different shop.
Thanks

Without a receipt I think you need to accept a the exchange offer or simply keep what you purchased, They do require proof of purchase and given they offered this without the said proof seems to be a decent thing.0

unfortunatly as its a change of mind ur not entitled to a refund, it's good you have the credit card receipt, u could try a too see if a good will gesture by asking again - it would be unlikely xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Even with a receipt you have no right to a refund unless the item is faulty - you are entirely reliant on the goodwill of the seller, who is not even required to offer you an exchange.0 -
So exchange it for a larger one? There's no legal right of return0

Thanks for the quick replies, I'll have to go home and have another look.0

The bigger size I'd just a tiny bit bigger, my daughter is 4, the bigger size won't last long if we got it, the shop have said they are happy to refund us with s receipt.
Once again, thanks guys/gals0 -
Just a thought here...
If they can find the transaction on their system as you say, could you maybe go in and speak to someone different (or a different branch) and ask for a duplicate receipt as you have mislaid the receipt and need it for some random reason.
Then with receipt in hand you can get your refund....0 -

Only if they offer a returns policy which allows refunds. As above, theres no automatic right of refund.
OP what style of bracelet? Possible to have links added perhaps? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

I would hazard a guess that it is an expandable bangle of this type: http://www.ernestjones.co.uk/webstore/d/6157343/9ct+gold+expandable+diamond+child%27s+bangle/
I've still got the one I received as a child, buried at the bottom of a jewellery box where it has lain, unworn, for over 40 years.0
