Hi,
First time I have written on here but I felt for the widow and have been in a similar position to you.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend.
We were in exactly the same position last August when my brother-in-law died.
After talking to the finance company we took the car back to the garage he originally bought it from (we called them first and made an appointment) to sell back to them but as there was light damage on the car they offered us a very low price that wouldn't cover the finance.
We then sold the car privately. We were lucky a neighbour was looking for a family car, we sold it to him for the amount outstanding on the finance. He was happy to have a family car at good price and the finance people got there money back. We kept the finance company fully informed all the way through and they didn't put any pressure on us for the money.
I hope this helps.0 -
Hello everyone, sorry to hear about your friend Maria :-(
Today I have sent the kids to school with a packed lunch and instead I'm throwing the £10 I would have given them at my credit card.
I have also signed up to lots of survey sites and already earned 15p Hahahaha

Morning folks,
Thanks to maria for starting us off and welcome to any new posters
Maria - I'm pretty sure that you can't inherit a debt that's not in your name. The finance must be settled using the estate, so she could end up with nothing from the estate, but once the money is gone, it's gone. However, if the house was solely in his name, then it would form part of the estate. In this case then, it would definitely be best to get some expert advice. I don't know enough about how they would approach this type of debt - perhaps they would try for something like a charging order? Def a case for citizen's advice.
Spent yesterday evening crocheting and back in work today. Feels good to be back in a routine at least.
Today's list:- B/L/D from stores. Got some lamb chops and ratatouille in the slow cooker.
- Charge phone in work
- Run at lunch time
- Sort budget sheet and email to OH
- Made a rough meal plan over breakfast
- Crochet later
Have a good one all

Hi all,
As many of you are I'm also back to work today and it's extremely busy! The bubble of being incredibly quiet for the past month or so seems to have burst
Today I will-
Survive work (hopefully)
Call and arrange for a larger monthly DD for my credit card after discussing this with my OH.
Chase up blind company for new house
Arrange babysitter for tomorrow as OH is back tomorrow whilst childminder isn't back until Wednesday
Apply for at least 2 new jobs tonight
Go for a run tonight after everything is settled0 -

Hi folks - thanks for starting us off Maria
I'm still off today courtesy of the 2nd Jan holiday for banks
Not much went on yesterday as DH was off. Thanks for asking about him chocolate lover. It's just constant pain that he's in and the painkillers can make him sleepy & dozy at times. Just waiting on a new knee and bone build up below and above the knee.
So today's plan- Check banks
- NSD
- All meals from stores
- Quick blitz of house
- Ironing
- Tidy spare room :eek::eek:
- Shuffle of kitchen cupboard contents
- Also - as I'm back at work tomorrow and I have a 121 quite early I'll need to prep for that
- Occupational Health for DH has been phoned
- Holiday company e-mailed for a free night away on our next holiday
Must pop off now - have a good day y'allDebts 07/12/2021
