  • Hi DS,
My situation is similar with the interest on CC and I can't get a balance transfer atm.
Just going to pay as much as I can every month and review the situation in six months...
Try not to think too far ahead and focus on one debt at a time. That's my plan...

Credit cards and loan total at Jan 2016=£37599 :eek::mad::mad::(:(

    Hi Dark Sunday.
It hard when you can't get a balance transfer, keep going, check again in a few weeks. I just got a copy of my credit report. Going to close old account down to get my credit score up. xx

I've got a free Noddle credit checker & to be fair rating not a disaster, however it's the very high amount outstanding on CCs I guess is the killer for trying to get 0% cards.

Just checked & paying more in CC interest than actual capital reduction. Our fault no-one else's TBH, so no other option than trying to overpay as much as possible to get it down. Hopefully by summer the situ may change ?.

Started doing surveys but have found that it's peanuts for tedious work & very annoying getting screened out after 10 or 15 min. Must earn about £1 per hour with surveys so may just knock them on the head.

  • Pretty uneventful week. Long week at work but also very frugal on the spending front. By this time next week some decent chunks of debt will be paid

  • Huge chunk paid to debt within the last few days mainly due to mortgage, car & large CC overpayment.

Need to keep disciplined & on-track.

No major outgoings expected in Feb. so hopefully there will be no unexpected expenses.

  • Had some time today to try to plan a debt reduction strategy. So here goes:

    1. Continue to budget, but be realistic & build in a little for unforeseen expenditure.
    2. Allow some £s for living a wee bit at weekends.
    3. Overpay smallest balance CC & aim to clear by mid year. This also has high APR interest.
    4. Monitor free Noddle & Experian credit scores & try to improve monthly if possible.
    5. Decrease crippling monthly CC interest.
    6. Cut up 2 CCs by year end.
    7. Try to get 0% CC balance transfer by year end.

Defo a very long haul, but no other choice than throw everything at getting the debt reduced.
