  • Thanks Kitten & Kirsty,

Been researching for couple of hours & gonna give it a try...nothing to lose really but won't build hopes up.

CCs are almost maxed out so virtually no chance of being accepted for any new CCs at 0% at the mo......so just gonna have to bite the bullet with some of the high apr CCs ....the plan is to reduce debt by at least £1,000 / month plus the interest, so need to pay thro the nose with some of the interest unfortunately

IT's definitely worth a try, particularly if you have had a packaged account for years - that amount can really add up!

Best of luck Dark, sounds like you have a good plan and that's half the battle!

  • Spent £15 less on shopping than normal which means CCs won't be used for top up shopping at the weekend. In fact haven't used CCs since LBM & toying with the idea of cutting most of them up but niggling concern about emergency funds. Normally spend a few £s every day on sandwiches, coffees, etc., but spent 70p so far this week.....taking packed lunches now instead.

Printed a lot of stuff about the packaged current accounts so gonna get a letter done at the weekend & make a claim, but not holding any breath.

  • Another CC payment today.

Returned some unwanted xmas gifts so a decent chunk to be credited to CCs..... hopefully next week.

    Thanks Cat

Well a week can certainly be a long time in debt-busting land....feels much longer than that.

Didn't manage to get the packaged current account letter done but it's on my "to do" list. The weekend has flown by very quickly again.

Another frugal week ahead & hopefully the returned, unwanted Christmas gifts will be credited to CCs soon.

You are making loads of really positive changes well done. With the credit cards it's however you want to do it. I put mine in a folder in my house and I don't know the pins. If I want to buy something I have to ring up for the pin and wait for it to arrive. Working so far. But when I quit smoking I kept the packet and lighters easy access at all times. I could have one any time - if you told me I couldn't have one I would, if I could have one I won't. Whatever suits you.
Once you've got the template you'll see how easy it is to get done :)
    Loan 1 £5200/£8000
    Loan 2 £300/£5800
    Total £5500/£13800
  • Very busy week at work which has taken my mind off the debt situation, but still living pretty frugally.

Some CC's paid next week so debt will be reduced another wee bit.

  • Just done the numbers & Jan. still looking good for debt reduction basically due to living very frugally & sticking to a realistic budget.

CC interest really is a killer.... did the MSE CC eligibility checker & exactly as I suspected 0 chance for acceptance with any of the 0% CCs. Cash flow is actually ok, house equity very high, but CC debt high & most of the CCs near the credit limits. Our fault no-one else to blame. Never miss any payments on anything.

Plan is to overpay as much as possible for next few months then check eligibility again.
